It was my first the shelter volunteer experience. I'm sure that it's not my last after spending two weeks here full of love and joy. The shelter is well maintained and managed - clean, spacious, controlled. I highly rate the staffs. They are so nice and professional. Volunteers get proper balance of duty/free time to ourselves. Last but not least, I have made miracle encounters with so many doggies and cats. I hope I will get to know more new fur friends than the familiar faces when I return - they all deserve a forever home!

Nova volunteered with us during the Christmas period and was truly responsible and dedicated. She completed every task with great care, keeping all areas perfectly clean and well organized. Nova consistently went above and beyond by spending extra time on additional walks, ensuring the animals received more attention and enrichment. She also took wonderful care of our kittens, showing patience, gentleness, and genuine affection.We are very thankful for her time with us!

Working with ARA was a really positive and interesting experience! I got to learn how to take care of dogs (as i have always been more of a cat person) and had fun spending time with all the animals there! Im going to miss them :'( The staff were really friendly and didn't make you feel bad if you needed help and asked questions. There was quite a bit to learn but they are always happy to remind you on how to do things! The volunteer house was really nice and has a balcony with the prettiest view of the nature and trees. Thankyou ARA! :)

Rute stayed with us for two weeks as a volunteer, and during that time she was a great help to our shelter. She worked with both dogs and cats, always with care, patience, and kindness. Her tasks included walking dogs, cleaning kennels, and cleaning catteries, all of which she carried out responsibly and with a positive attitude. Rute was reliable, respectful, and genuinely interested in the well-being of the animals. We wish her the best for her next volunteering!

Choosing ARA as my first volunteer project was the best decision I could have made. The animals, the people, and the whole place grow incredibly dear to you very quickly. The work and the working hours are really fair, and you also have plenty of free time! The entire team is very friendly, open, and always helpful, so you quickly feel welcome and integrated. All the dogs and cats are really well cared for, and it's a joy to be able to help out with that every day. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and can wholeheartedly recommend a stay at ARA to everyone!! :))

I had such a wonderful time at ARA! It was my first volunteering project and I am so glad that I decided to choose ARA. I can truly wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone! You immediately feel welcome and the people and animals you meet are just amazing. Everything is well organized and the animals are really well cared for. Charlotte volunteered with our dogs and cats shelter for four weeks, and she was an excellent volunteer throughout her time with us. My time at ARA was amazing. It was a really welcoming place and I enjoyed structure and freedom during my stay. There is clearly a lot of love for the animals there and the staff are incredible. They were patient teaching newcomers the ropes. The work they are doing is life changing for animals and people alike.

How. An I describe this amazing experience? Ara is truly an incredible place dedicated to helping animals. The center is very well organised and I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived. My experience with the staff was excellent , The communication was clear, kind and professional. All the volunteers were truly commited to the cause. I completely fell in love with the location, and most of all, with the shared purpose: helping animals to find their forever homes. I'm already planning to come back as soon as possible to follow up with the dogs and cats. This experience really touched my soul

This experience was better than a ever could expect! The dogs, staff and volunteers I met, they all are amazing. Would highly recommend ARA to someone who loves animals and participating in a friendly, fun and safe community! The city Loule is a easy 20 minutes walk into town and has a lot of nice cafés. And the nature is lovely to!

I really had a great time volunteering at ARA. Since it was my first volunteer experience, I didn't know what to expect, but the friendly and competent staff, as well as the other volunteers, made me feel comfortable right away. Working with the dogs every day was incredibly rewarding, and it's clear that the animals are very well cared for. Also Loulé is a lovely town and easy to reach on foot, which made my stay even nicer. I can genuinely recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back!

Dominic was a great addition to our shelter during his 3-week stay. He quickly became a dependable and supportive volunteer, always approaching every task with enthusiasm and care. He hosted two of our kittens in his accommodation and looked after them wonderfully, ensuring they were well-fed, safe, and comfortable. His gentle manner helped them feel secure and loved.
