I have had an amazing time at ARA! Both the staff and the other volunteers are great, and will do their best to make you feel welcome the moment you arrive. In addition, the animals are all taken care of very well, and it feels very rewarding to contribute to their wellbeing by volunteering. If you are still a bit in doubt about volunteering at an the shelter, ARA is a great place to do so. I have already scheduled my second volunteering period!

Mark has been a fantastic volunteer at our animal shelter. He was always friendly, dependable, punctual, hardworking and ready to help with anything that was needed. His natural ease with both our dogs and cats made him a wonderful part of our volunteer team, and his kindness was felt by everyone—animals included. We are sure our dogs will miss him dearly. We truly appreciate all the time, dedication, extra cuddles and care he gave during his volunteering, and we highly recommend him

I had a wonderful four weeks at ARA. It was my first volunteer experience and I think it couldn't have been any better. I was really scared because I came alone, but I met so many great people right after arriving! I learned so many new things about the work at a shelter, but also about myself. The team is amazing and always helpful, so I felt safe the whole time. The amount of work was fair and I really enjoyed spending time with the dogs and cats! Besides the work, I had plenty of free time to explore the shelter or spend time with the other volunteers. Hopefully I'll be back soon!

This was my first Worldpackers experience and it was a really good one. I enjoyed working with the dogs, especially seeing how some of the more shy ones slowly gained confidence with calm and patient handling. And the little kittens in our trailer were definitely a lovely highlight!! The place is well organized, the work is clear, and you get plenty of time to connect with the animals and explore the beautiful area. Would be happy to come back. :)

Julia was an outstanding volunteer during her 3 weeks at our dog and cat shelter. She was caring, reliable, and always willing to help with a positive attitude. She also hosted two of our kittens in her accommodation and took excellent care of them, giving them love, attention, and a safe place to grow. Her dedication and kindness made a real difference for our animals. We truly appreciated her work and would gladly welcome her back anytime.

ARA was an outstanding experience, and if you're thinking about going — do it! :D You will never feel alone or lost, but immediately welcomed. The animals are amazing, and not only do you get to help them, but your mental health also improves while being surrounded by so many lovely souls (especially the little kitten in my trailer 🐱). Great experience! the shelter is a fantastic shelter with friendly and dedicated staff. It is a great place to work and spend time with the dogs and cats to make sure they live their best lives until they get adopted! Highly recommend :)

For me ARA was truly the best place for my first travel experience on my own. I'm so grateful for everything I learned, the people I met and all the memories I made. I've met so many special souls, both people and animals that I'll never forget. ARA will always have a special place in my heart and I will definitely come back as soon as possible!

I had a great time and enjoyed working with the dogs! I had really fine contact with the other girls I shared the house with. Loule is nearby, easily to reach by a little walk. It is a really nice little town. I spent a wonderfull time at ARA. Thanks everybody and give a lot of hugs to the dogs from me, I will really miss them ❤️ maybe I will ever come back…

ARA is my home away from home. It's my favourite place on earth and I am so grateful I found it and can keep returning. The team does an incredible job in caring for and rehoming animals no matter their background and it is a privilege to contribute to this mission as a volunteer.
