I had the best time on my second experience at ARA. The environment at the shelter is like no where I have been before, and I hope to come back for years and years to come. All of the staff and volunteers have one thing in common, and that's their love for all of the animals there, making it an inspiring place to work, even in the heat! Even with ongoing renovations to make the shelter an even better place for the animals and volunteers, the staff were very helpful in making sure we were happy and had a comfortable place to stay at all times. I had an amazing time and met friends for life!

I couldn't have imagined a better place for my first volunteer experience abroad! At first glance you can see how much the ARA team cares for their animals, along with lots of expertise and wide knowledge. As a volunteer I immediately felt welcomed and within these 4 weeks I learned a lot about working and training with dogs, met amazing people and got to know the beautiful the shelter. The staff always cared for our wellbeing and the work at the shifts is well organised. Can't recommend it enough! You'll have an unforgettable time while making a real impact at ARA :))

This was my 3rd time volunteering at ARA and definitely won't be my last. Each experience I have here is amazing and I always create lasting memories and friendships with people from different countries! The staff are fantastic and you can tell they all extremely care about the dogs and cats. They welcome you and make you feel at home from the second you walk through the gates. 2 weeks went by too fast and I can't wait to come again hopefully soon!

My second stay at ARA was truly amazing! I met so many nice people from all over the world and had so much fun with them. Everything at ARA is well organised and the staff is always ready to help and tries to make everything possible for the volunteers. You feel welcome from the very first second. I also enjoyed the work with and for the animals a lot and it is wonderful to see that everything is given for the animals. I enjoyed every second of my stay and cannot wait to be back as soon as possible. I can highly recommend volunteering at ARA. You will have an unforgettable time there!

Spending two weeks volunteering at ARA in Portugal was wonderful. It was already my second time there, and I can confidently say: it won't be my last. I had a great experience at ARA. It's a very special place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and you feel comfortable from the start. The team truly cares about the well-being of the volunteers, and they're open to feedback and willing to find solutions if any issues come up. Everything is well organized and I really liked the regular meetings with the other volunteers. It was a great way to connect. There's also time to explore the area, which I really enjoyed. I'm happy that ARA was my first Worlpackers experience and would definitely recommend it to others.

It was my 4th time at ARA and such a good experience again! The work the staff and all other volunteers do are so important. Everyone pours their heart into helping animals and giving them a better life or a chance for adoption. The work is fun and does not feel like work. It is truly a beautiful place.
