The experience

We're a large hostel in Shkoder center - the capital of northern Albania!
Join our international team. Currently, we have owners who are native to Shkoder and volunteers from around the world. We’re looking for a friendly, reliable volunteer to help run the front desk and create an unforgettable guest experience. This role combines basic receptionist duties with being a positive, social presence in the hostel.

What you offer

32 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cooking: Choose the menu, pick ingredients and cook delicious dishes.

What you get

1 day off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Restaurants: Get discounts at nearby restaurants.

Discounts on Pubs: Get discounts at nearby pubs.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 20 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

What you’ll do:
- Welcome guests, check them in and out, and answer questions about the hostel
- Manage bookings, emails, and basic admin tasks
- Keep the reception area organized and running smoothly
- Share local tips, events, and recommendations with guests
- Help maintain a fun, welcoming atmosphere in the hostel

What we’re looking for:
- Positive, upbeat attitude (on and off duty—you’re part of the vibe!)
- Comfortable interacting with people from all over the world
- Responsible, organized, and punctual
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn our systems
- Team player who enjoys hostel life and social environments

Morning shift (6AM-12PM)

Rules

House Rules:
- Please be mindful of noise after 11 PM.
- Even when you are not on shift, you represent the hostel. You are part of what makes this hostel have such a fun vibe!
- If you need to swap your shifts, please let us know we are all willing to help each other.
- Please do not sleep in beds with guests.
- If you need to pop out, please ensure someone is there to cover.
