Volunteering at ARA was life-changing. Though nervous at first, the welcoming community quickly made me feel at home. Meeting people who share the same love for animals was inspiring. Helping the shelter animals is not just fulfilling—it's a heartwarming experience that gives so much in return. The bond with the animals was special, and even small moments with them were healing. ARA's well-maintained facilities show how much the animals are loved. The work was structured, with free time to explore the beautiful surroundings. If u love animals, this place feels like home. ARA is an incredible place to connect with animals and do your part to help them find a home. I met incredible people, both from the staff and from the other volunteers, who I will always keep in my heart. My time in ARA was just something else. Being my first solo experience I was a little bit scared before my stay. At first everything seemed a little bit much regarding the size of the shelter, the amount of dogs and cats and I felt a little bit lost. But everything turned out so well and probably into the BEST experience I had so far. I made lots of new friends with people all over the globe and enjoyed the work with the animals so much. It may sound cheesy but this experience kind of healed a part in me and gave me so much experience and some new perspective. Would love to come again!

Working for ARA has been one of the best experiences I ever got to make. Everyone is incredibly nice and welcoming… not once did I feel left out. The love for the animals, that you can clearly feel at ARA, is overwhelming and I was so lucky to experience that. The work you have to do follows a clear structure and is never done alone. It isn't too hard either and you have enough free time to explore the city, beaches or play with the dogs. I will definitely come back!
