Great experience for volunteers! I recommend visit the place without a friend, because getting to know the other volunteers will go faster if you are alone - and you will have a better experience. There is improvement to be made for the dogs, but all in its own time. the shelter trainer they hired is awesome, listen to him carefully and you will learn a lot 😊

This was my second stay at ARA. I really like this beautiful place. As a volunteer you have a lot of contact with the cats and dogs. It is also a great oppurtunity to meet other travelers, because there are always around 10 to 15 volunteers in the shelter. I learned a lot about dogs from the professional dog trainer.

I volunteered at the shelter for the fifth time and each experience couldn't have been better. The staff do an amazing job - by making the volunteers feel at home immediately, but also and above all by caring for the animals passionately. The work at the shelter (cleaning, walking, socialising with dogs and cats) does not really feel like work because it's so much fun and you get a lot of free time to explore the beautiful the shelter. The accommodation is shared with other international volunteers, which is perfect for socialising :) Can't recommend this place enough!
