I had a wonderful time at ARA! The everyday life with all the lovely people and the great animals warms your heart and the day comes too quickly when the volunteering time is over 😢 ARA is a great place, for you as a volunteer, but especially for all the dogs and cats! When I went to Portugal I thought I was going to help shelter dogs and cats that needed me. I didn't expect that I would end up needing them ;) ARA is an amazing experience and the opportunity to be with people with the same mindset focused on helping four-legged friends. ARA is a truly special place. It's no coincidence that I've been there twice already. At ARA you get to know wonderful animals, many other volunteers and the staff, with whom you spend a great time together. Of course, you have to get up early and work. But if your heart beats for the animals, then you're happy to do it because you want them to have a nice, clean home. You learn a lot about the animals, but also about yourself. Simply a great place and I'm sure I'll be back a third time:)

I had the most amazing time at ARA, it was beautiful to see how cared for all the animals and humans are ! The staff made me feel so safe and welcome and everything was exactly as described if not even better! Although I had to cut my time short due to illness it was the best thing I have ever done and would definitely do it again! Thank you so much for having me! I'll cherish these memories forever! And to anyone questioning whether to do it, do it!

Great experience for volunteers! I recommend visit the place without a friend, because getting to know the other volunteers will go faster if you are alone - and you will have a better experience. There is improvement to be made for the dogs, but all in its own time. the shelter trainer they hired is awesome, listen to him carefully and you will learn a lot 😊
