By far the best volunteering experience I could find, we went to the organization for two main reasons: Germany + doing something relevant to the community, we couldn't have chosen better! Huge shoutout to father Oliver who accepted us, made us feel welcome and was always willing to help us with what we needed, I definitely would like to come back one day! Last but not least a huge thanks to Kai and Andre who helped me with the language and showed us more about the German culture, you guys rock!

Hi Dyeimes, thank you for your review. I forgot it and now it's too late, so then on this way: We were all very happy that you were both here with us. You were a great addition to our team. Thank you for your commitment and all the best for you!

My time in the organization was great! Father Oliver and the other volunteers and staff have always treated us very well. We were given a private room and the volunteer kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Tasks were easy to complete. Duisburg is a good place to serve as a base for exploring other cities and countries in the vicinity. We even had the bonus of spending Christmas there and it was wonderful! I definitely recommend the organization!

The experience was amazing! During the period, I was able to participate in different tasks for the community and, mainly, understand the context in which the project is inserted. As for the activities, as long as you are willing to help, there will be plenty of opportunities. If you have time restrictions, I suggest you align this in advance to contribute in the best way (: Living with other guests was very pleasant!! It's impossible not to have fun with Kai and his various card, board and video games - I recommend you participate whenever possible! Thank you so much ✨

Our experience was amazing! Lucas and I we were very welcome by the team, Bedia and Emine picked us up at the station and prepared everything to make us feel at home (so sweet!). Pater Oliver is an angel (with a really great humor, big heart and disposition) he toured the region with us, showing ancient cathedrals, squares, towns and also nice cafes. Working at the church is simple and easy, interacting with people is transformative ♥ Sometimes we worked more than 10h, but it was never a problem (Christmas can be busy). Hope to see you again soon, the organization family. You're all in my heart!

Overall, it was a good experience. The work in the kitchen was easy and working with Mary was delightful and the people we served we saw frequently. There is lots of down time and you are mostly left alone, but I was lucky enough to have another volunteer to go out and explore with.

I believe I had a pretty different experience than what other reviewers have had. Mostly in the social aspect. Everyone was very kind, but I hardly ever saw any of the hosts but maybe 2-3 times. The work itself was very easy and you have a lot of free time. You also get to see a lot of the same members of the community daily, which was nice. Mary in the kitchen was awesome! All in all, it was okay, just okay. The work they do is good, there just wasn't a big social component.

The experience was a rich opportunity to learn how to really help your community. There are several ways I participated in helping out. Every morning I worked at the thrift store. People would donate clothes and we'd then sell them for extremely cheap. And even give clothes to the needy. And the small amount of money we got was put to feeding the hungry. Everyday they would make a big meal for the hungry people and we got to help cook, and serve the food. There's also a boxing class I helped teach. It was really educational to learn those systems and how I can apply them at home.

My experience at the organization was nothing short of exceptional <3 The role was simple: organize clothes in store for the daily clothes drive, support in the kitchen w/ cooking, serving & cleaning, and housekeeping in the homeless shelter. I learnt a little bit of German & got to exercise Arabic & Turkish. The staff & volunteers I worked with were incredible: P Oliver, Bedia, Emine, Mervat, Manuela, Gunay, Marcela, Carlos, Rafael, Andre. I really enjoyed movie/ series, cooking and game nights with my roomies. Big love & thanks to Bedia & Emineh for all the support #sisters

My experience in St. Peter's Catholic Church (the organization) was unforgettable, it's a Family headed by P Oliver for all refuges, homeless people, workers, volunteers and everyone who wants to join. I had time to travel, practice my English, share good time with Emine, Bedia, Kai (staff the organization) and other volunteers (Carlos 🇲🇽 and Sameera 🇰🇼). I would like to come back one day 😊🙏
