The work is small and easy. The schedules were respected. Maria, the chef, is great!! When we couldn't understand each other with the mix of German and English, she showed us how the service should be done. She was always happy and humming along. The group of volunteers was really cool and we were able to exchange lots of tips and experiences. Overall, it was satisfactory, but don't have too high expectations.

I'm very grateful for this experience. Yannik is very welcoming. The work in the kitchen with Mary is fun and fulfilling, she creates a lovely working environment :-) In both jobs you are confronted with less fortunate people but who are very kind and friendly. The area is mostly made up of immigrants and refugees, which can be an adjustment initially but I didn't feel unsafe in the end. Duisburg provides a good hub for travel. I would recommend having enough money to travel and buy meals for dinner and on the weekend. I recommend this place if you want to travel and improve German skills :-)

This was a nice experience since I got to know many locals and international travelers. The work is actually very rewarding and the hours are the ones expected. I'd recommend this for someone that can be proactive and also to the people that would like to travel around Germany.

The organization was my first experience. We'd got a great meeting with the main organiser, who take time to explain where we are, what are the tasks and show to us all the place where're we at with kindness and a good English ! The tasks are not hard plus you're surrendered with people who just want to help us ! My best regards to Mary, Yannik, Kai. And to all the travelers who shared with me!

The organization was a place where I could help a lot of people and at the same time have plenty of time to visit many different places around Germany. Regarding the job I worked in a kitchen with a woman called Mary who is a really nice person, she always tell you very well what to do and also teach you some things about cooking. It's not a complex work at all besides it's also interesting to meet different people at the refugee and contribute for a good cause. I thank also Jennifer for being a good host and always provided me everything I needed at the organization! Hope to visit you again!

I was there for 4 weeks. The first 2 weeks, as everybody was on holliday, I didn't have much to do. But this last 2 weeks that I have been helping at the kitchen, I loved it. I realize that every day I see the same faces, there is like a sense of comunity. They help people in so many ways... legal, a place to stay, a plate of food, a cup of Coffee, medical assistence, etc. I had a room for my own, which it was a plus. You are very well conected to public transport, as you have the tram stop right in the corner. Lot of free time to enjoy Germany (work 3 days/week for about 4 hours)

Here at the organization, people from different backgrounds work hard together towards the same goal---helping those in need. It is such valuable experience to volunteer in the kitchen of the homeless/refugees shelter at the organization. Here you have the opportunity to cook lunch for those in need. The number of people who come to lunch changes every day, usually around 40 to 50 at the moment. When you serve lunch, you can meet different people and communicate with them. So it would be best that you speak some German. You don't have to cook with perfection but do with heart. That's the only advice.

My first experience with worldpackers and I couldn't choose a better place to start. The people who work at the church are welcoming people, I made great friends, I studied German, I had the privilege of my stay being during the carnival and being able to parade with the church community. The work was pleasant and I recommend it to everyone who wants to connect with a community, because it is an environment to meet people and interact with the church's routine and I can say that the experience added a lot to me! Thank you the organization!
