We worked 3 times in a week. The kitchen work was more demanding than of the 2nd shop. Still, it was more fun. There were times, we had to peel lofs of potatoes or cut carrots and potatoes. It can be boring sometimes.Still, Mary was very nice to us. She is really kind and understanding. I also worked with Rutz and Heike. They were very friendly and nice too. It made me wanting to work more. We were 4 of us. The 2 people worked in the kitchen and 2 were at the 2nd shop. 2nd shop can be dusty and made me sneeze often. Though, It was good. We were flexible and chose where to work by ourselves.

I really enjoyed the time that I've been there. The tasks are pretty easy and there are lots of free time to travel to other cities or walking around Duisburg. The staff in the kitchen is so kind and it was a nice experience to help with the activities and needy people. Besides I could know people from all around world, making friends, practice english and a little bit german too.

The experience I had here was lovely. The work are chill and there are lots of free time, so I get to travel to the other cities nearby almost every week. The people that I work with are amazing. Shout out to the chef —Mary, who are super lovely and caring; to the manager-Yannik, who makes everything happen, always open for help and really care about everyone here. Recommend everyone who love to improve their German or love to have some local travel tips to help out in here:)

It was one of the best places I've ever volunteered, it was really cool to help in the kitchen to serve food to people who need it. You have plenty of free time to explore Germany and a room to yourself. I highly recommend it!

Being at the organization was a truly wonderful experience! You can make an impact in this role and get to directly address needs of local people. As others have mentioned in their reviews, language can be a pretty significant barrier. If you have no German language skills, it is definitely important to be patient and it can be very beneficial to learn a few basic phrases. Working hours were as expected and the days off each week allowed for a lot of time to explore Duisburg and cities nearby.

It was one of the best experiences I've had :) really, everyone on the project is always very helpful. The work is very incredible, you help people and that is very satisfying. All the people in the store are also incredible, they are very patient in explaining the functions. It really was the best experience I've had, I'm extremely grateful to have participated in this project.

This was my first experience and I couldn't have choose better. I had the best time at the organization! The people that works there are really friendly and is always up to help in whatever you need (thank you Yannik, Kai and Mary!). The work is socially relevant and was great to help the community. The hours are respected and the job is not too hard, they teach you what you need to do. I always felt safe and welcomed there, and had the opportunity to talk with the locals and learn the language. I would recommend this place for a volunteer work!

Yannik is a great host! He has excellent English and is always available to support the volunteers. At the organization you will be able to help in the kitchen or in the clothes store. In both places you will be able to be in contact with refugees, germans and people in need. As most of the people around do not peak English, communication can be a barrier, but google translate can help you. Important to say that the internet at the house is not the best one, so if you have to work besides your volunteering position, it would be interesting to contract an internet provider.

I felt truly integrated into the organization family. Mary the cook does not speak English but she tries to communicate as best as possible. If you are lucky like me and meet other good volunteers you will enjoy it a lot. I highly recommend this volunteering, you will have a lot of time to visit the different places in Germany, and the work is really easy, it's great.
