Condado Beach Hostel - Looking for Co-Hosts!

MM is a lot of fun. Always something going on, always fun guests to socialize & go on adventures with. Super close to La Placita so you'll definitely be going out. Also very close to the beaches, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, coffee. There can be a lot of work at times during your shift, especially during busy season. I stayed 5 weeks & that was a good amount of time for me. Some downsides for me were the late check ins, sometimes you'll work 3:30 - 11 PM & want to sleep or go out, but you'll have a check in at 3 AM. Also sometimes the work could be chaotic, with only 1 person on shift.

My 5 week stay at the hostel was great! I got to meet so many amazing people, in staff and guests alike. The workload can be tough at times, especially during busy season but the tasks are very easy to learn and considering the balance of three days of work and four days off per week makes it very doable. The accommodation is very cozy and comfortable. All in all I had a really good time.

The hostel is the place to be in San Juan, a welcoming environment with great people along with great vibes. Charles, Alé , and Virginia run the place and da great job, thank you guys. The schedule and work is fair with much time given to explore the island with both guests and coworkers. Unfortunately I had to shorten my stay but I would have loved to stay longer.

The hostel!!!! Oh man where do I even start. It was the THEEEEE most beautiful hostel experience I've ever had. The place was filled with love and respect. Charles was such a rad host!! Super on point and communicative. This has been the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at. Ale was the coolest manager. Always making sure I was happy and comfortable. I truly felt like I was part of a family. All the travelers that come through the hostel were epic!! I WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD MORE TIME HERE. I definitely could live there if I had the chance!!

The hostel is a great place for anyone that wants to party and have a great time. I can't tell you how many nightsI've gotten little to no sleep because of FOMO. However, still very strict about work. So if you play hard, make sure you work hard.

I stayed at the hostel for a little more than 7 weeks. The amazing other volunteers I stayed with made this time special and great. I didn't had a car and was stuck in San Juan which can be boring after some days. I got some pocket money and I had to pay 210 dollars rent per week. The work is quite exhausting, especially since I had a lot of night shifts and you have to be prepared to work more than 12 hours per shift (I had this case 6 times in 2 weeks). The host was nice and welcoming.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Mango Mansion. We're thrilled to hear that the volunteers made your stay special. To clarify, nobody pays rent at Mango Mansion as we operate on a work exchange basis. Volunteers work three 8-hour shifts per week, which covers the cost of their stay and includes performance-based tips.

If someone requests to stay a week without working, we offer a reduced rate stay at $210/week for a maximum of one week.

Positives: - Confort - Location - Manager Negatives: - Lot of work, there are no outside workers, only volonteers - On night shifts you have to stay later for late check ins (+8h) - If you have no car you can't do anything during your free days and you are stuck in San Juan - The owner is a lot into money. After an incident with a brain health issue guest, I asked to leave 2 shifts earlier (2/12) , he say sure no problem I understand. After I buy my flight ticket, he announce me that I will not get payed for the work and extra work I did. Well done from him to save couple dollars

We love hosting Work Exchangers, whom we call “co-hosts,” and consider them our guests who simply help instead of paying to stay. We host up to 4-5 co-hosts at a time and have 1-2 full-time paid managers called “hosts.” Aside from the work exchange for accommodations and breakfast, we offer commitment tips to those who complete their minimum commitment of a 4-week, 12-shift stay. This minimum requirement helps cover the time and money involved in training new co-hosts and ensures we are not short-staffed. The commitment and performance bonus is meant to encourage co-hosts to do their best job and fulfill their commitment, preventing sudden departures that could leave us short-staffed.

Othmane requested to leave early with only 2 days' notice after less than three weeks and having worked only 8 shifts. He said he was stressed and unhappy, and for his own mental health, he needed to return home early. As we care about our cohosts' welfare, we did not argue and told him to do what he needed to take best care of himself. Despite the fact that this left us short-staffed, and we had to pay two other co-hosts to cover his 4 missed shifts. Upon his departure, Othmane inquired about his commitment tips, and we reminded him that tips are only paid out after completing the 4-week/12-shift minimum commitment. His commitment tip money wasn’t even sufficient to cover paying the other staff members to work his missed shifts.

I was not able to stay my allotted time due to my lack of responsibility. This work stay is pretty good, i just didn't take it as seriously as I should have. People here are very nice, i had to leave due to not getting up on time for my shifts. As long as you can do that and do the actual work I think it could be amazing. With my problem on not getting up on time it did create sort of a mess- with me and the host, I'd recommend him to be a bit more commutative due to the fact that as I was apologizing *and accepted i was leaving* it was as he scolded me and called me a liar multiple times.

Deirdre was an absolute pleasure to host. She quickly pick-up tasks and consistently delivered above expectations. Social and out going, as well as personable and kind to both guests and staff. We would warmly welcome Deirdre back if she decides to come back to Puerto Rico!
