Program Details

Our volunteer program is designed to be simple, collaborative, and centred on communication. When you arrive, we give you an orientation to help you understand how the hostel works, what your tasks are, and how you can make the most of your stay. You will have a clear schedule, ongoing support, and the freedom to bring your own ideas to help improve the guest experience. We treat volunteers as part of the team, and we always work together to create a plan that feels fair, enjoyable, and balanced for everyone.

Activities & Shift

Your shift runs from 12 to 4 in the afternoon. During this time, your focus is to help create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for guests. You do not need to stay seated at the front desk the entire time. You can move around the common areas, greet travellers as they walk in, answer questions, help with check-ins and check-outs, organise the reception space, and keep an eye on anything that may need attention. You may also help with simple admin tasks such as confirming reservations, responding to messages, or directing guests to cenotes, food spots, or transportation. Your role is to be present, supportive, and approachable while keeping the hostel running smoothly during the afternoon hours.

Rules

We keep rules simple because we prioritise respect and communication. The hostel is very flexible and accommodating, and we plan schedules together so they work for both the volunteer and the team. We only ask that volunteers show up on time, communicate openly about any changes or needs, respect shared spaces, and treat guests and staff with kindness. If anything comes up, we talk about it and adjust so that everyone feels comfortable and supported.
