The Experience

We are a couple trying to balance our self employed lives (in Eco Tourism and I.T) and our garden. We want to grow more & get rid of invasive species. We'd love help up to 15hrs a week - weeding, pruning, digging, and cutting back. We'd prefer to create a schedule that works for you and us - so you get time off when you want it. We have space in our home for you to have your own room and dedicated work space.

I felt really welcomed from the very first moment. Fiona and her family are such lovely and kind people. Working in the garden felt like therapy to me, and I truly enjoyed every day I spent there. The exchange of experiences was amazing, and I learned so much during these two weeks. I'm really grateful for this time and I definitely recommend the experience!

This was probably my best experience on this platform so far. Fiona and Pieter are a very special couple who made us feel at home and were always attentive to detail. The first day was my birthday, and they organized a surprise party. Fiona made my favorite dish, which meant she spent hours in the kitchen. Plus, I've never practiced English so much because they work from home, and the contact is truly constant—wonderful! I feel genuinely grateful for this experience.

I sincerely enjoyed my stay at the home, Fiona and Pieter are really lovely hosts! The work is quite physical but very satisfying and you get plenty of help from the family. You have loads of free time, which I mostly spent in the parks and at the river. Also all of Scottlands bigger cities are super easy to visit from here. Since you will be the only Worldpacker, you should be able to enjoy your own company from time to time, which worked out very well for me.

Jonathan,
Thanks for your review - we really enjoyed having you to stay too and our chats over dinner and hearing about your time in the Hebrides. You achieved a massive amount in our garden - we're really grateful for your hard work.
All the best,

Volunteering at Fiona & Pieter's home was such a blessing. The two and their family are so kind, welcoming & hospitable. I was here over Easter & felt so at home during my stay which was lovely! The work & hours were just right, flexible, and in the morning, leaving the afternoon free. The area is walkable to main shopping streets and very peaceful & safe which was great for runs and walks alone. It's also worth mentioning that the two are excellent cooks, and have a wonderful kitchen to use. Overall I loved my time here, such a great experience which I'd definitely recommend! 💙🤍

It was great to have you as part of the busy house over Easter - lots of fun! (You have just totally boosted Pieter's ego calling him a good cook!)
Thanks for all your work - much appreciated ;-)
