Volunteering alongside the hotel was one of the greatest experiences I've had so far in Japan, and the best part about it was - it never really felt too much like hard work, because the people working alongside you (the staff and the owners) are so kind that it makes you want to shed a tear as you leave. The scenery & nature make it limitlessly interesting, whereas the people make it equally as enriching. I would strongly recommend volunteering at the hotel.

The couple that own the hotel are great and honourable people! They always put an effort in into making sure they did their job well as hosts and I'm glad to have worked for them. They're also fun to talk to.

Worked In the Kamitaga Hotel, it was great. Routine consisted of making up hotel rooms and housekeeping. Only a couple hours work each day. Local area was beautiful & tranquil with easy links to Atami & Tokyo. The kitchen we had full access to was also really good.

This was a great experience! I absolutely loved all of the beautiful nature nearby and the electric bicycles you can borrow were very useful to explore the local area. The work hours are as stated and the staff and host are also very friendly and communicative. The room you stay in is also comfortable. The only thing that would be good to know before you arrive is that there are no shops within walking distance, so you should bring food with you right from the first day, and you also need to bring your own towel. The kitchen is also not the greatest, but there is a microwave which is useful.

The hosts speak Chinese and Japanese but they're both (married couple) very friendly and willing to communicate with you. all the staff there don't speak English except for one lady, but they're very familiar with using Google Translate. the area is very quiet, not much to do in the immediate surrounding area but there's a bus to town 10 min away (USD5 for a round trip). the hosts asked us to help w cleaning despite us agreeing to manage their social media, which felt a bit unfair. other than this they were welcoming and let us use facilities (onsen, bikes). would recommend for a short stay!
