The Experience

Hey everyone, we are looking for volunteers starting autumn 2024 for renovation of a big house in a small town close to High Tatras. We look for everyone who has some DIY or building skills, who is able to help us with the renovation of the house to make it into a nice new hostel. The work is includes painting, plastering, woodwork, demolition works, cleaning and similar.

Truly a wonderful experience!! The hostel is located in a small town, but the experience was extremely fun. As a volunteer, there are lots of things you can do every day, and the manager is also incredibly kind. You can go skiing or hiking with other volunteers or guests. Since we work at the hostel, most of the time we need to stay there from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock, and in winter the sun sets around 4 pm. Because of this, most hikes need to be done in the morning, which I would highly recommend—the sunrise is absolutely stunning!!!!

I had a great time during the holiday season at the hostel! Lisa is super sweet and led us on some great hikes. This is a great opportunity to meet other volunteers and guests and make new friends! The work was pretty chill, and the hostel is so cozy and warm, so its a great place to have a quiet holiday, explore the mountains, or ski.

You have the chance to meet great people with a to-do mindset. You can even make your travels sustainable, with different opportunities. The hosts are flexible, open minded and responsive. If you speak a slavic language you get the chance to speak with Vlade, a person with a big heart willing to help you with the house duties. Overall, is a great chance to develop your skills with guest services, bed making, construction and repairs of the hostel.

The hostel is beautiful and well equipped, takes 5 minute walk to get to the train station, the owners are very kind and flexible, so I recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet couple of days.

I have so many wonderful memories in this mountain area of Slovakia! The environment here is incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Working here feels just like taking care of my own home, and I love every corner of it! Being so close to the mountains means I can hike and enjoy the scenery whenever I want. The volunteers who come here are all very warm and kind as well. I will definitely come back again.
