The Experience

I am truly grateful if you can help me with: * Harvesting almonds (July-September) and olives (November-February) * Vegetable garden (combination planting & crop rotation) * Prepare wood for stove * Little chores in & around the house * Painting (inside or outside) * Photo/film footage for Social Media (also any experiences with night visions?) * Cooking/new recipes (a lot to improve on my side)

Liesette is absolutely lovely! The finca is her house and she has two teenagers, we spent time together as she makes you feel part of the family. The work was well instructed and easy. Loved the pancakes breakfast and being spoiled haha It's far from cities but it's such a beautiful place, really peaceful! I shared the room with the other sweet volunteer, it was cozy! It was a enjoyable time, thank you Lisette S2

My time at Lisette's finca was a truly wonderful experience. Lisette is an incredibly caring and attentive person who always makes you feel like part of the family. Her kids are very creative and love spending time cooking together, which made the experience even more enjoyable. During my stay, Lisette had a specific project in mind that she wanted to accomplish, and I'm glad we were able to finish it on time. I really hope she gets to see the results of the vegetable garden very soon!

It was really nice having you here.
Loved seeing you and Laura get the garden beds ready and plant the first veggies – they’re already looking happy! 🌿

I had an amazing time with Lisette and her family! The Finca is beautiful, and the work was easy and reasonable. After contributing to the daily tasks, there is plenty of time to relax, and most evenings are spent watching movies with the kids. Katja was also really helpful, and I had a lot of fun working on the almond trees with her! The only downside to the position is that there isn't much privacy in the home and sometimes it can get a little awkward being in the middle of family affairs. That said, it wasn't a dealbreaker for me and I'd still be happy to come back!

Thanks for your feedback!
I always try to make volunteers feel at home, offering 1 of our 2 bedrooms while 1 of us sleeps on the couch. Living closely in a family home can have its challenges, and I’m grateful for the flexibility from volunteers.
As a single mom with two teenagers, things don’t always go as planned. I didn’t feel this was an issue during your stay, so I was surprised to see it mentioned here. Next time, please feel free to talk to me.
Thanks again and see you!

I had such a wonderful time with Lisette and her two beautiful children! Not only did I enjoy spending time with them and their four charming cats, but I also loved being surrounded by nature. This experience allowed me to reconnect with myself, learn so much about rural living, gardening, and becoming more self-sufficient. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking to feel at home in a warm and welcoming environment. Thank you, Lisette, for your kindness and hospitality. I will always cherish my time in Maella and the memories with your lovely family!

I've had precious moments at the farm. It's a magical place to be in touch with nature and oneself. Also the nights full of stars are amazing. There is a good variety of veg, fruits, etc. She is aware to live in a sustainable way. Lisette and the kids have been very kind and caring. I always felt I was part of the family. The tasks were easy & flexible. We had deep talks, prepared and enjoyed delicious food (Mateo and Rafa really enjoy cooking), we played games, sang along and had a great time at Maella. All these memories will always be in muy heart.
