The Experience

I'm Mo and I'm looking for travellers who'd be interested in helping on a small alpaca farm. You will need to be really comfortable with animals as there are 42 alpacas and 3 dogs and 3 cats who are also part of the family. In addition to the daily work with the alpacas, there is always outdoor work to do on the farm. I work with the alpaca fibre and I enjoy teaching skills. English is the language of the farm and I speak quite good French.

I can't find the words to describe how meaningful this experience has been for me. Mo and Stuart are the most inspiring, creative and loving people I've met in my life. They have so many stories to tell, they are very patient with explaining how everything works and so nice regarding work-rest balance. You will eat delicious food because both of them are great cooks. I am glad that this was my first volunteering experience, couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you both again! And to you, the person thinking of applying, do it. You will have a great time!!

I had the best time with Stewart and Mo, they are excellent hosts. Getting to know the alpacas are fun and you will never have a dull moment, Stewart and Mo are great conversationalist. I would recommend this to anyone. I learned a lot of new skills including building, spinning yarn and much much more!

My stay with Mo and Stuart was the most fulfilling and enriching experience I could've asked for!!! We fed and cleaned up after the animals each morning, and afternoons were filled with various other tasks (where I learned a lot of new skills!) Mo and Stuart are both wonderful teachers and kind, generous hosts. Besides learning lots about alpaccas, the few weeks spent with them taught me lots about the world as well - agriculture, sustainability, politics, culture, food. the time flew right by. Thank you both!

I had an exceptionally good experience at the farm. Mo and Stuart are wonderful hosts and you immediately feel welcome. The animals are absolutely adorable and the natural surroundings bring a lot of peace and quiet. In general, you get into a state of relaxation very quickly here thanks to the deceleration during the days- without ever getting bored. The work is fun and you learn a lot (they like to teach and are very patient about it). I had a wonderful time that just flew by.

Mo and Stuart are lovely hosts, with a beautiful farm and cosy farmhouse. Their daily tasks are simple and they are always doing them alongside you. Both have many skills they are willing to share and are great nurturing teachers at their crafts. All the animals are so cute and friendly. I had the best experience being part of the family for 2.5 weeks and living their French farm life, it was everything I had hoped for and more. I hope to make my way back to their little slice of paradise again!
