The experience

I'm Mo and I'm looking for travellers who'd be interested in helping on a small alpaca farm. You will need to be really comfortable with animals as there are 42 alpacas and 3 dogs and 3 cats who are also part of the family.
In addition to the daily work with the alpacas, there is always outdoor work to do on the farm.
I work with the alpaca fibre and I enjoy teaching skills.
English is the language of the farm and I speak quite good French.

Program Details

I could need help with anything from helping look after the alpacas to pointing the walls of old stone buildings!
Depending on the time of year, there is always something to be done, whether it’s maintaining grassland and fencing, working on building projects or sorting fleeces for spinning. Of course, the alpacas need feeding and looking after every day, all year round!

Enthusiastic and willing helping hands are what are needed. The work isn’t hard, but it is physical and sensible working clothes are essential.
You’ll have your own comfortable bedroom and bathroom which I'd ask you to keep clean and tidy yourself.

Activities & Shift

I'm always interested in meeting new people and would enjoy sharing what I've discovered here with you.
I’ve lived in this lovely part of France for many years and have a view of life here that's a bit different.
I enjoy cooking and trying new food experiences.

I’m also a teacher of English as a second language, so if you want to improve your English, I'm happy to give you a full English-language immersion experience.

I spin the fleece from the alpacas and make felt too - if you are interested, you could join in.

Rules

I'll make sure you’re well-fed! I cook a variety of food but I do NOT cook for diets restricted by choice, religion, culture or health, including vegetarian/vegan and gluten/lactose free.
If you’d like to share your own cooking skills and food culture, that would be great.

Helpers live as part of the family and share dishwashing duties too!

The farm is a non-smoking site for health and safety reasons and I don't accept couples, children or pets.
