The Experience

Hello, My name is Ahmad Khozin. I live in a small village in Temanggung, Central Java. I'm an English teacher in Junior High School. I have been teaching since 2019, and three years ago I started my private English school too in my house. I welcome volunteers to come and help teach English to local children and teens aged 7-19. The teaching will take place in local schools and houses of locals.

Had the most wonderful two weeks here! Taught children at the elementary school, had many interesting conversations with different people in the community and did so many fun activities! I had the opportunity to attend events/festivals, learn about coffee and tobacco production and visit beautiful naturescapes. Though the home is simple, the community - be it family, friends, neighbours or the schoolchildren, are all immensely kind and hospitable and will make you feel right at home. The generosity and warmth of the people here have truly made this such a meaningful and memorable experience.

Although I stayed just for 3 days, I had a lovely experience with Kozhi, his family and his c. He you have to know that his house although cozy is small and modest, so don't expect great facilities, and actually this is part of the experience of being a volunteer in these village :) In the end we shared without any worries. His family is really lovely and they will try make feel comfortable! I could visit the school for teaching English. Even If you don't speak Indonesian, you can teach , nowadays translator is the best friend and kids there use it a lot! And they are amazing!! Thank u Kozhi

I had a wonderful time with the project's friends and community. I felt especially welcomed by the project's family, including his parents who made me feel as if I was really part of the family! In terms of teaching, it is not structured teaching in a classroom with lesson plans etc but more going around Temanggung speaking with locals in their homes and generally bringing English to the village. You will experience authentic living in Central Java rather than being a teacher. I was able to experience many activities such as waterfalls, coffee plantations, traditional dancing and much more! Thank you!

Mr the project and his family are some of the kindest and hardest working people I've met during my time in Indonesia, it was a pleasure to stay in his home and learn about their culture. Teaching the kids was also a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this experience

The project's worldpacker's experience was absolutely wonderful! I met another volunteer there, Sara. We did a variety of activities such as a coffee plantation, visiting holy water/ temple, and bamboo market. I stayed around the villages with a number of the project's friends such as Mas Isro and Mas Mochles, all of whom were great hosts. With Mochles, we went to school and taught children, while Isro took me to work and showed me all about the coffee preparation process! We made many other friends along the way who we love and miss already! This is a beautiful experience and community!
