The Experience

We are a happy family living with our friends – a community in a old farm in Blekinge, Karlshamn. We have a place where you can be yourself truly and we need a lot of hands. We have 30,000m2 field, 20,000m2 forest and meadow. We grow about 80,000 fruit trees and also vegetables, herbs and roses. We have bees and small flock of chicken. We mostly need help in-house and with farm work like weeding, harvesting, fertilizing, digging and maintenance:)

Since this was my first Worldpackers exchange and also my first solo trip, I was a bit nervous at the beginning, especially because I can be quite shy. But from the moment I arrived, everyone was super welcoming and friendly. I got along really well with the other volunteers, which made the whole stay even more enjoyable. The dorm was different from what I had expected (e.g compost toilets), but in the end it was totally fine, I just did not know about it before applying. The work at the café was good, I especially enjoyed helping out with the B&B rooms and food was always delicious.

This was my second time at the community and I would come back again! What makes this experience so special to me is that you really feel like you're home away from home and meet so many amazing people, with whom you can spend your free time (and you get a lot of free time you can spend in nature or at the farm) :) For most of us, it presented a lot of new experiences, like feeding chicken, using compost toilets etc., just a great place to learn :))

Only english speaking, no german (as in the description). We got sick there, but we were very well cared for. Generally, the members on the farm were very welcoming, with a wide variety of people. The food is interesting and tastes good, but not as "the community," "healthy," or varied as I had imagined... It was a nice stay and we got to meet many other volunteers. Many Germans were there :)

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I had a wonderful time. Work in the Café was fun, the working hours were always respected and everybody in the community was really nice and made sure you felt welcome and included from the very beginning. Also, the bicycles came in really handy because there are so many beautiful places (e.g. lakes and nature reserves) to explore. I can definitely recommend coming here :)

It's my first volunteer trip and I spent wonderful time with Paulia and her team. Everyone here is super friendly, warm and willing to share. They will guide you to do the work on the farm and really respect the time schedule. When we finished the work, we can cycle to the lake for swimming and enjoy the stunning view! Other volunteers were also friendly and nice, sometimes we played board games at night and had a lot of fun. It feels like home. So, I super recommend staying here, I almost cried when I was leaving! Thanks for everything!
