Helping in my restaurant

Great experience. Luuk is very nice to everyone and makes amazing dinners and with a great amount of food, I've eaten things I didn't like before and now I do! The work is easy and Luuk respects the working hours. You work in the afternoon so you have all the mornings free and lunchtime free to explore the surroundings, and if you need more time you can always choose to make those longer plans on the 2 free days. The infrastructure for getting around Holland is amazing, you can cycle everywhere and the trains and buses are easy to use for. Important as you'll have plenty of time to tourism.

My stay was memorable! It was my 7th volunteer and absolutely one of the best ones. Luuk is friendly, approachable and flexible. The room is spacious, the food is delicious and the surroundings are just so beautiful! The working hours are not flexible, but they're at night which leaves the day for you to explore as much as you want. Keep in mind that it's a tiny village, so you have to travel by train/bus to reach the nearby towns and cities. Luuk has only one bike to lend, but there's a place in the village where you can rent bikes for the day. That's how we went to the beach all together (:

My experience was incredible. Heeg is an amazing place—its people, its culture—but above all, Luuk is a great human being, someone from whom you can learn a lot about life. I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to meet Luuk, support him in his restaurant, and connect with the local culture! Thank you, Chef! Until next time!

This was my first volunteering experience, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. The work is very straight forward, and the people are friendly and genuinely interested in you as a traveler. Heeg is a small but charming town, and with a bike, you can explore many places in Friesland thanks to the excellent infrastructure in the Netherlands. Luuk is an amazing chef who prepared the best dinners for us. He's not only a good boss but also a great host. He even took us to the Frisian Islands, where we had a lot of fun and got to know the local Dutch culture. Dank je wel !

My experience at the host was incredible. It was my first volunteering and I had the opportunity to make contact with volunteers from different countries. Luuk is a great antifritter and chef. He allows the team to organize itself whenever possible and is always open to communication, in addition to being a generous person and attentive to the needs of others. The work is quiet and the days off are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when the restaurant is not open. Heeg is a small town where Dutch and German tourists stop off before continuing on their journey. I recommend the experience.

This has been my first experience in volunteering and I couldn't like it better. The work is not very complicated and the owner is always willing to answer any questions you have. The town is small and the surroundings are quiet, but it is easy to visit new places on your days off, either by bike or by public transport. This experience has given me the opportunity to meet amazing people and create wonderful memories!

My experience at the host was my first time volunteering, travelling solo and working, but I felt so safe and welcomed during all my my trip. Luuk is an amazing host, patient and supportive, he was always very kind to me. The work was nice, easy and even fun, and with the rest of volunteers we all were an amazing team. Heeg is a small village, but there are still some places around that you can go to or even a small club. During my experience, I grew very close to the other volunteers and one of the highlights of this trip are all the friendships and memories that I'll never forget.

Being here was a nice experience. Luuk is a very good hearted person that makes amazing meals. Heeg itself is small, but you have things to do if there is great weather, and also in the weekends there is a club that you can go. The work at first seems difficult, but just with some time and practice you would be able to do it. Is a great opportunity to know a little bit more of dutch culture and also for meeting international travelers. Hartelijk dank 🫶🏻

I had the best of times in Heeg! Luuk is a great manager, giving some freedom to the team do the work independently but at the same time always there to help us if needed. At the beginning I was a little nervous, cause it was my first time working as a waitress, but he helped me to feel confident to do the tasks and then I realized it was quite easy! Also, he cooked the best dinners ever and sometimes took the team to explore the surroundings or gave us lifts to places. So I 100% recommend this volunteer and I'll definitely miss this experience. Dank je well Luuk, tot ziens!

There's so much that I could say about my experience. It was my first time working as a volunteer, and I really loved it! The town is small and comfy, it's very nice to walk around and go to the beach or nearby towns by bike. I liked the work as I had the chance to interact with local people and talk with them, and it was fun to take their orders and trying to have everything under control. Luuk was a great host, he was patient with my mistakes and helped me overcome them. The food he cooked was really good and the restaurant was lovely and beautiful. I would like to return! :)
