The Experience

We're an Italian family, living in a small stone house in Emilia Romagna region, a place surrounded by forests, mountains and rivers. It is a perfect spot for trekking, climbing, and skiing. We like cooking homemade fresh vegetable, prepare pizza, bread and cake (in our wood oven), also to pick some berries, flowers and mushrooms. We need help, depending on the season, with farming, permaculture gardening, bees and some building tasks.

I had a wonderful experience at the project! For anyone who loves nature and wants to learn more about it, it is the perfect place. It was beautiful to work on the farm, under the sunset, surrounded by mountains and there were always lots of diversified tasks to do. Maj-Britt and Alessio are wonderful people, very welcoming and that make you feel comfortable. They gave clear directions for our tasks and cooked delicious Italian food for us. A very positive experience!

Alessio and Maj-Britt are wonderful people that welcomed me into their home with open arms. My volunteer experience at the project was the best month of my life immersed in spectacular nature and Italian culture. The work on the farm was peaceful. We harvested lampone, ribes, made macerato di ortica (natural insecticide), cleaned out weeds on the lines, seeded and much more. I was even able to experience bee keeping and private gardening. We worked Monday to Friday and I had weekends off to explore and relax. I truly feel like I learnt so much and would recommend this to anyone.

A very welcoming and friendly family. Every time we sat down together for meals I felt comfortable. There is always something new to learn and lots of different things to do. I felt like I was always learning something and could always ask more questions. A great experience! You can truly see their love and passion for the environment and their projects.

I absolutely loved my stay at the project. I learned a lot about herbs and biodynamic work with nature. Everybody was super kind and made me feel welcome. I really hope to return one day :)
