We stayed with my boyfriend for a month, Helen was very kind to us, she even picked us up at the train station and took us back the day we left. Puppies and dogs are the sweetest thing in the world. It was a very beautiful experience and a lot of learning. Our fellow volunteers made the experience even better. We are very grateful and the shelter to visit them again one day. Thanks for everything!

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I loved every minute of it. Helen is lovely and makes you really feel at home, plus I learned a lot from her passion and commitment in what she does. The dogs are amazing and spending time with them brings joy. Also I met some others volunteers and had the opportunity to exchange and learning from them too. I would recommend to anyone this experience, but must be open to learn new tasks and be proactive to get to best out of it.

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I can surely say that it was a lovely experience. If you would like to spend time with dogs and meet new people but at the same time spend alone time in the small forest in a small village and enjoy being with yourself this is a great opportunity for you. the shelter is a lovely place to stay and I assure you that you will bring some lovely memories from this place :)

My experience here was awesome, I worked with a couple of other volunteers at the time and it felt like a little family. The dogs obviously are gorgeous and it was lovely getting to spend all day with them and get to know them all. At times it did feel like we had more responsibility than what was originally outlined, as some dogs need almost constant supervision. However it was not too bad as it's in quite a remote place so the dogs are the best thing around. Definitely a very special place and the work Helen does is incredible! Thank you for the experience!!

Helen and the other volunteers made it a great experience, task expectancies were direct and easily outlined, and Helen even cooked us a BQQ! The dogs were the best part, it was so fun learning all their personalities and spending time with them, especially beautiful watching them be adopted. Definitely an experience if you want to help Helen and the dogs, especially the puppies as they need more attention, and not as much for seeing Bulgaria as the area is pretty remote. But you'll be spending all your time with the beautiful dogs (and sometimes kittens) anyway!

I enjoyed the ease and routine of the work. The dogs and cats were such beautiful creatures to get to know with so many different personalities. However, Helen tried to communicate her high expectations with me regarding the food and work at the sanctuary but is a working process. Her love and passion for dogs was inspiring to be apart of. Overall, only the volunteers, animals and being surrounded by nature created a wholesome atmosphere.

I went as a couple, we only stayed 14 of the 19 days. Working with dogs was great. Some dogs bite, be careful. About the room, the bed was clean, but the room doesn't have proper hygiene to receive people, maybe it's normal for the administration. Some dogs sleep and eat inside the house. If you are careful about cleanliness I wouldn't recommend this place. The work is easy, but english is required, Hellen is demanding that everything go perfectly. There are two girls who will explain the job better than the host.Need clothes to get dirty.Hellen's treatment of you depends on how her mood is.

Helen and her other volunteers were very helpful in getting me there and making me feel welcome. It was a unique experience but a little different than I had expected and I sadly couldn't complete my stay but feel free to message me with any specific questions.

Volunteering in the shelter it's such a life experience. Challenging sometimes, it's definitely not an experience for everyone. In the winter it can be really cold and you have to make your own fires in the house. Tasks will be easier if you have experience with dogs, but with a proactive attitude you will learn a lot. The dogs are lovely! You get to spend time with them and in nature too. Helen does a weekly grocery shopping and it's good to communicate with the other volunteers for the sharing. Thank you Helen for the opportunity, and Floor, Alex, Candela and Gonzalo for the good times!
