What you offer

Hours per day: Help out and collaborate with your host only a few hours per week.

Pet Sitting: Taking care of and looking after pets.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

What you get

Days off per week: Have some time off for yourself, go explore the city or rest for a while.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Support: Get help from the Worldpackers support team in case you need it, at any point of your trip.

The Experience

Hey! We need your help with: daily feeding, cleaning and walking (in the morning and afternoon) of dogs. General care of dogs. Willing to be hands-on, use your initiative and feel comfortable around dogs. Basic knowledge and understanding of the care of dogs and their behavior. Positive, flexible and work well in a team. Must be happy to have dogs inside the house with them. We'll pick you up in Vratsa to meet our lovely dogs (:

Having Helen as our host turned an already wonderful experience into something a hundred times better. I will always remember those two incredible weeks, where we met amazing volunteers and enjoyed the company of a fantastic host who made sure every day we were in the best conditions. My partner and I had an amazing time volunteering at the dog sanctuary in Bulgaria. We helped care for the dogs and also looked after two sweet kittens. It was a beautiful and rewarding experience that we'll never forget. We are definitely coming back soon!!

I had one of the best times at the dog shelter. All the dogs (and cats) were so sweet and friendly, always happy to receive affection, and you felt like you were giving them a few wonderful moments that they all more than deserve. The routines are clear and ensure that all the dogs are properly cared for. Helen does everything for her dogs and you can see how much she cares about everyone of them. Helen is an absolute power woman with such a big heart, both for the animals and for her volunteers. I was so sad to leave and I wish I could've stay longer!I will definitely come back

This was an awesome experience, that I'll never forget. For someone who loves dogs is this the perfect volunteering. I had so much fun but I also gained a lot of experience. Some days were harder than the others obviously, but nothing unmanageable. We were starting very early in the morning and Helen does not buy meat for us to cook. Those were only two factors I had to get used to. Overall I had a great time and it really made me want to do more volunteering, as this was my first time volunteering.

Choosing this as a first volunteering experience was probably the best decision I could have made. Helen was always so kind and helpful, even if we messed something up. The work itself can get physically and mentally hard if a lot is happening in one day, but it's nothing to be worried about. Every hard day can be easily fixed by cuddling with one of the lovely dogs ;)
