Helen is awesome! And an amazing lady who is really doing such a good thing. It was great to volunteer with and for her. I would've loved some more company while I was there, but the dogs are incredible and make sure to say hi to William and Arlo (my 2 favourites!)

It was my first Worldpackers experience and it was great. Helen is very kind and she is doing amazing job with the dogs. At the beginning it's difficult to learn the routine and remember dogs' names, but over time you'll get it. The work isn't hard but you have to be a true dog lover and not afraid to get your hands dirty. Days off are not guaranteed and when it's not enough volunteers you might have to work a bit longer, but I enjoyed my stay anyway.

I had a really great experience staying at the shelter for 2 months! Helen is so kind and cares so much for the dogs. It's hard work but it's very rewarding! I would definitely recommend volunteering here if you are an animal lover. One note is that days off are not guaranteed if there are not enough volunteers, so you may have to work every day you are staying. There is however still plenty of free time during the day between working shifts. The location is very rural, a good place to relax and appreciate nature! The dogs are all lovely and were very difficult to leave.

Spending time here was a really rewarding adventure. The dogs are full of energy and affection, and you quickly feel connected to them. Each day brings small but meaningful moments while caring for them. At the beginning it can be a challenge to get used to all the names and locations, but soon the routine flows naturally. The volunteer housing is quite simple and could be more comfortable, yet it doesn't take long to adjust and focus on the joy of being with the dogs.

Overall, it was a wonderful and enriching experience. The dogs are incredibly affectionate and it's impossible not to feel their love every day. Looking after them gave me a strong sense of purpose. At first, the routine can seem overwhelming—trying to remember the names of so many dogs and where each one belongs—but after a few days everything becomes familiar and much easier. The accommodation for volunteers could be improved, but with time you find ways to adjust and make the most of it.

It was a great experience, but not for everyone. You've to be a true dog lover. Don't expect luxury or a place with great amenities to stay, it's basic but has what you need. Be prepared to get dirty, to listen to occasional doggy orchestra, but it'll be super worth it for the love you receive from them. My advice is to enjoy these amazing souls as much as you can and be open to meet other volunteers, they can make u feel at home. And Helen is the most animal-loving persn I've ever met. She's so committed to her animals that she would do anythng for them. She has been very thoughtful with us

My partner and I spent 2 weeks at HHH and loved it so much, we decided to come back. If you love dogs and connecting with them on a deeper level, then an experience like this is perfect. You need to be committed to the dogs and your jobs at hand, but it comes naturally and is so rewarding. I think it's important to only commit to something like this if you truly love dogs. Let them sleep with you, spend time with them outside of designated work hours, and you will all benefit more. The dogs are so gorgeous and very hard to leave. We had no plans of adopting a dog, but plans changed!!

I had such an incredible time at the shelter! I stayed for two weeks and wish I could have stayed for longer! Helen is absolutely lovely and I got very close to the other volunteers. I think it's important to note that when there are less volunteers there you will be expected to do more work than is specified and days off are not guaranteed. Additionally you have to be comfortable sleeping/living with dogs which you are responsible for outside of shifts (but they are lovely- I miss Ash everyday <3!). Overall though this was such a rewarding and enjoyable first workaway and I highly recommend!

My time in Helen the shelter was incredible, the job that is done on the sanctuary is amazing and was such a honor to make part of it. The only bad part of it is that I already miss the routine and all of the dogs. Helen is such an awesome person, she does everything that she cans for the dogs, I would definitely come back some day
