The Experience

Handy nature lovers that like to work on fun wood projects are welcome on our family homestead in the heart of Croatia. Peter is building gypsy wagons and tiny homes for guests, so that we will attract a nice kind of (adventurous, nature loving) tourists. He is also building a sheep stable and rabbit hutches and he would love to get your help with that. So if you are handy and you have good experience with wood work and tools, please contact us.

I had a lovely time at the project! The family was super welcoming and inclusive. I chose the project to further develop my skills as a cook, as well as learn more about their culture/way of life. They have a cozy home surrounded by 4 sweet little cats & two dogs. Each day I was tasked with cooking lunch and dinner alongside their son. I also kept busy cleaning, reading, and going on walks in the lovely mountainside. There was always plenty of delicious food and drinks! They even taught me some other skills they're passionate about (welding, blacksmithing, fermenting etc.) So grateful!

I found the hosts to be thoughtful and considerate humans who can be either very direct or allow space where needed for the greater good. They are so easy to talk to. I learnt so much from them in a very comfortable setting. The surroundings are gorgeous. The animals are so cuddly. I'm likely going to go back!

I'm so grateful for my first Worldpackers experience at Bogota the project and recommend it to anyone seeking an adventure. Nestled in the green hills of Croatia this beautiful homestead and family welcomed me with open arms. The work was as agreed upon, tasks often blended into the lifestyle rather than feeling like chores. The rhythm of the days allowed plenty of time to rest and reflect. From shared (yummy) dinners to quiet moments with nature, everyday held something meaningful. Thank you, bogota the project family for showing me what intentional living looks like, I'll carry it with me wherever I go.

The time I spent at the project was the best of my life. The people, the work, the environment, everything is amazing. It was my first volunteering experience and I would without a doubt recommend it to everyone. Peter, Barbara, Fleur and Nol made me feel comfortable immediately, I was able to express myself and grow as a person. I also have to say, coming from a former picky eater, the food is definitely amazing, there wasn't a single meal I didn't absolutely love during my stay. Wouldn't change my time there for anything in the world. Highly recommend!

This was a positive experience. A good family, a nice spot of land, four lovely cats, and two cute dogs. I was here to cook with their son Nol who was unfortunately unwell for much of my stay, regardless they provided ample free time and liberty for cooking meals. Delicious tea and kombucha remained on standby.
