Help out at a comfortable and homey hostel in Sofia, Bulgaria

Ten the hostel is my first WP experience. This is a good place to get rest and alone time, but not socialize, party or do activities. You have PLENTY of time to visit Sofia during time off. The tasks were VERY simple, but the training at the beginning lacks a lot of communication, so you learn what you should've done or done wrong by making mistakes. You also have this long term guest Asya that often requires your help to cook and she feeds you in exchange, careful though, she can be stubborn/rude with the way she asks for help or if you refuse to help/eat her food.DM if you have questions.

It's the place for who's needing more alone time for a while. I enjoyed my stay a lot; after a long long journey, I took a necessary rest here. If you're more of a partying person who loves a lot of socialising time & various events, I'm sure there're other places in Sofia for you. The hostel is cheap and accepts guests from any background, sometimes you'll need the patience to deal with everything. But all the tasks are doable, Bartel and Alex are very friendly, and, the most important one, there are cats!

My time at the hostel was very chill. The work was as described, but I didn't receive much training and the communication could have been better. It's outside of the city center for feels more residential and isolated. It was a big change of pace. It's not a social hostel so you have a lot of time by yourself.

I had a nice time at the hostel. The work is easy and you are trusted by Alex and Bartel to do it. It's very quiet, but I didn't mind. And the room for the volunteers was always warm. The grandmother of the hostel, Asya is very sweet and takes care of everyone. It's a good place if you're looking for a chill volunteer experience.

My experience at the hostel was very good! The volunteer schedules are well divided and the work is not difficult. The location is not the best, close to the hostel we have a small local shop but the center is 2 metro stations away (which closes at 11pm), the station is a the hostel-minute walk from the hostel. It's a quiet place, if you're looking for a party hostel this isn't the place. The food provided is not always sufficient, sometimes it is necessary to buy some items at the market. I recommend the position, I made good friends here!

This was my first experience in te Balkan península, so it was very interesting to understand it's culture and learn about it's history. Sofia's center is so beautifull, full of nice buildings that clearly show the cultural process at a polítical and religious level. In the hostel you can breathe a family atmosphere with a very good vibe. The work was simple and Alex and Bartol, the owner and the manager, gives you completly freedom to do it. They are, both of them ,very good people. I had a very good time in Bulgaria.

It was an unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to talk with guests from different countries and lovely local people. Alexey and Bartel are so friendly and supportive people. To have the opportunity to meet to Asya (the grandma of the hostel) has been one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences that I have had… I won't forget you Asya… The tasks are too easy and the tours that you can do are awesome. I would come back there without any doubt.

Being in the hostel was an absolutely enriching experience on a personal level, I would do it many more times. The work is simple and the schedules are clear, Alexey is very generous and collaborative with the volunteers, always willing to help. Barthel is very collaborative and understanding. Asya, the older woman that many here talk about, is absolutely charming and makes the stay even more special.

As my first experience with volunteering at Worldpackers, I really enjoyed being here. Tasks are very easy and quick to perform, Barthel the manager is extremely polite and always very available. Alexey is the owner, despite speaking basic English, communication was always good, he was always available via telegram, always responding quickly to whatever we needed. In general it was a very good experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for their first experience as a volunteer, here could be a good option. To me it was great because I could practice my Spanish and my English.

It was a great experience to get to know Sofia and Bulgaria. The work is easy and you have a lot of free time to get to know the city. It's perfect for beginners.
