Help out at a comfortable and homey hostel in Sofia, Bulgaria

I had a good experience at the hostel and enjoyed getting to explore Sofia! The hostel is small and quiet and not very near the city center, but it is right by the metro. The tasks are easy and hours are as described. The only thing I would improve is that the training was extremely minimal, especially with reception tasks, but a volunteer was frequently left with no staff in the hostel and expected to run the entire reception after not being properly trained on everything needed for that.

The owner and the manager are very nice. The hostel is not downtown but it's easy to get anywhere with public transportation. But keep in mind that is a cheap hostel, so expect everything to be very cheap. And be prepaired to receive a lot of weird guests. Overall is an ok place, could have some improvements on the hostel structure.

My experience in the hostel was nice! The tasks were as agreed and timetables respected. The volunteers room is together with the guests, which sometimes was not nice, because they think we are working all the time. But it was fine! Other volunteers were really nice and Bartel the manager was always there to support us. We didn't see the owner, Alexey, but he was available all the time on telegram group, and responded really quickly when we need. There is also Asya, one nice (but stubborn) grandma who lives there and always give us food - even when we didn't want to eat! Hehe thank you all!

The tasks and the schedules are exactly as explained. There was food every day, at least a sandwich. The leadership is responsive (Bartel is always there and Alex answer the messages very fast). The hostel operation needs the volunteers, so there is much trust. Sometimes Asya, the woman who cooks in the hostel, has a way of subtly asserting her wishes, even if they occasionally conflict with the tasks at hand. But she is thinking about the wellness and fun of the volunteers. The hostel is very close to a metro station and a very good supermarket.

My staying at the hostel was my first Worldpackers experience and it was truly a great one. The team I met was made up of very nice, welcoming and helpful people. They answered to all my doubts patiently and the work load was fair and very well organised and clear. Also, the lady who lives there, grandma Asia, was so nice, warm and welcoming that made my stayed even better, I gained a very good friend. Thanks to Alex and all the team for the opportunity.

The hostel is near a metro station and take less than 20 minutes go downtown. The task are very easy, is clean beds, rooms, wash duvets, blankets, etc. help at recepcion. Barthel the manager is awesome, he understand that we're humans and understand when you make a mistake. They give you the list of task that you need to do during your shift and they give you the freedom to administrate by yourself. Is a hostel that works thanks to other volunteers so is important that you try to keep as Much as you can so the next volunteers can find the hostel clean and it will be easier.

I had a great time in Sofia. Nice atmosphere in the hostel, you will find 80% of guest are from Bulgaria so you'll learn more about this culture. Not so many things to do, so I had enough time to explore the country and to visit different places in Sofia. Nice experience, i hope I'll come back one day 🤝🏼
