I had the best time at the hostel. Somehow the planets align there. It's not the most beautiful or comfortable place you'll experience but honestly it is what makes it so special. Everyday was an adventure, the team was incredible and the people too. It's very well situated in Palermo and it makes it easy to walk around or go out. Since the boss have several other places to take care of you won't see him a lot and you'll have to take care of this place with your own professional conscience. Sofie the manager comes on a daily to make sure everything is ok, she's the best and the sweetest.

I really enjoyed my time at Sunrise hostel and would recommend this volunteer opportunity! This was my first volunteering and I had a great time in Palermo for a month. A big part is thanks to Sofi for being so helpful and friendly, as well as the other volunteers of course. Sunrise is a little rough around the edges, but go with an open mind and you will have an amazing time. The work is simple and flexible. There is opportunity to meet amazing people and enjoy the city. Overall a great experience! :)

I enjoyed my experience here at sunrise hostel! The work is super easy & the shifts are shared around evenly so it gives you lots of free time to explore or chill out. The hostel isn't the newest so the facilities were a little run down but apart from that everything was fine. You also get to share this experience with many other volunteers which is a great chance to meet other people from around the world. The manager Sofi is also super lovely & helpful for any needs you have.

The hostel is definitely rough around the edges! The facilities were very basic and often broken and there's no real training for volunteers. There were also a few concerns around safety and security. However, the people I met here are like family to me now. The time I got to spend with the other volunteers and some of the guests was the best of my life, and the manager Sofi works really hard to make you feel welcome and comfortable as much as she can. The work is incredibly easy and your shifts are pretty much completely flexible/in your control, which allowed loads of time to explore!

The owner of the hostel has another hostel named sunrise hostel, I was sent there. At first communication was a bit complicated and no one really showed me how things worked at the hostel. But as time went by it became a bit more organized. The hostel is not the newest or most comfortable place, but there is a private room for volunteers. Overall it was a good experience, the work is not too hard, you organize shifts with other volunteers and you can practice your Italian! The best part was meeting other volunteers and being able to spend time at both hostels

It was a chock when I first arrived, the pictures are far more better than the hostel itself. There wasn't a manager or someone to teach us the tasks, what sometimes lead to confusion and mistakes, good thing is that we had freedom to set our own schedules. Also, the atmosphere and interaction within volunteers and guests was the best part of this volunteering, it was like a big family. Instead of meals provided, there was a small amount of money given to us weekly to buy food. Wi-Fi was unstable as was the hot shower and staff dorm was super small and without window.

Thanks for your answer and words Ana!
Ana Paula was a great volunteer! She was always willing to help and make a friendly space for the guests.
She knows how to comunicate and how to understand the people needs perfectly. She was a great partner in the volunteer team.
We hope next experiences will receive her with confidence about her skills and good vibe-
We are really grateful with you and highly reccomend her!

I had a good time at the hostel and Palermo is a great city! The other volunteers where amazing and luckily because only volunteers work there and I didn't see the owner that much. the hostel is not the most pretty and comfortable Hostel i've seen but it's a really social place and I enjoyed it a lot so if you're willing to meet people and don't have to high comfort standarts i definitely recommend.

I had a great time in Palermo! The other Volunteers were very very nice and welcoming. To be honest I didn't see francesco as much as I expected and quickly realized that this Hostel is mostly run by us Volunteers. Despite that, I had a great time and met lots of very interesting people from all over the world. I would recommend this hostel if you are looking for a great experience in a city! Palermo is a wonderful city with a beautiful old town and also beautiful nature around. I am very glad to have chosen this as my first destination with Worldpackers.

Was a good experience, there's a lot of flexibilty but you need to be committed and organized to make it work, the other volunteers were like a family to me so that was the best part. Thanks Francesco!

I had one of the most exciting experiences of my life. In Palermo, every day brought a new bar, restaurant, or cool street to explore, and the hostel guests were always up for joining in. As for the host, Francesco was incredible, incredibly welcoming, and made me feel at home. Regarding the property, being an old building, it needs some repairs, but it's still a place you can call home. This is the volunteer opportunity for those looking to exercise their responsibility, as the shifts are quite active, and it's necessary to stay focused during your shift to not disrupt the one following.
