My stay was amazing! I arrived in Palermo feeling sick, and even though Francesco is super busy, he was very kind. Andrés was incredibly understanding and gave me a few days to rest before starting. The hostel is a bit old, but the work is simple and manageable. The group of volunteers was fantastic: we all got along really well, and I even made some great friends, including a few guests. The atmosphere with both the hosts and the team was super friendly and respectful. I’m really grateful for the experience! ❤️

My overall experience was good. The tasks were simple, and volunteers had the freedom to choose their own work schedules. We were given money to do the weekly grocery shopping, which makes it a good place if you want to save money. However, the hostel is an old and poorly maintained building. The showers didn’t work properly, and the facilities could definitely be improved. On the positive side, the location was very good.

Would not go back. The space has potential, but it’s dirty, outdated, and poorly maintained. Volunteers essentially run everything, from cleaning to check-ins, but much of the dirt is structural and can’t be solved with light cleaning. Mattresses were old and infested with bedbugs, and showers had no pressure and no hot water. The vibe wasn’t warm or lively, and most guests stayed only a night because it was the cheap. GOOD POINTS: location, €60 for groceries to split between the four volunteers and schedule flexibility, but the other volunteers was what really made the experience bearable.

Francesco, the owner, is indifferent to the well being and safety of the volunteers and will blame you for his failings as a business owner rather than take responsibility. The training is minimal for a job that requires you to essentially run the hostel on your own. Palermo is beautiful and my co volunteers were lovely but the hostel was a constant source of stress and daily problems that made it hard to fully enjoy my time there. Andres the manager was always kind and tried his best to help.
