I definitely recommend volunteering at the hostel. It's really the people that make it, and I was lucky enough to work with some amazing humans who quickly felt like family. Shout out to Pablo, Bella and Florian ✌️ The hostel isn't fancy, but it's got everything you need (even a new fry pan now!). It often felt more like a sharehouse. Perfect location—close to the center, station, and the sea. Plus Piazza Magione, a amazing square that comes alive with live music, drinking and picnics. Andres and Maud were lovely, fun, and always there to help when you need them. Ciao the hostel! Piacere ☀️

My overall experience was good. The tasks were simple, and volunteers had the freedom to choose their own work schedules. We were given money to do the weekly grocery shopping, which makes it a good place if you want to save money. However, the hostel is an old and poorly maintained building. The showers didn't work properly, and the facilities could definitely be improved. On the positive side, the location was very good.

Would not go back. The space has potential, but it's dirty, outdated, and poorly maintained. Volunteers essentially run everything, from cleaning to check-ins, but much of the dirt is structural and can't be solved with light cleaning. Mattresses were old and infested with bedbugs, and showers had no pressure and no hot water. The vibe wasn't warm or lively, and most guests stayed only a night because it was the cheap. GOOD POINTS: location, €60 for groceries to split between the four volunteers and schedule flexibility, but the other volunteers was what really made the experience bearable.

Francesco, the owner, is indifferent to the well being and safety of the volunteers and will blame you for his failings as a business owner rather than take responsibility. The training is minimal for a job that requires you to essentially run the hostel on your own. Palermo is beautiful and my co volunteers were lovely but the hostel was a constant source of stress and daily problems that made it hard to fully enjoy my time there. Andres the manager was always kind and tried his best to help.

I enjoyed my stay in Sunrise a lot!🌞 The location of the hostel is amazing! It's very close to the historical centre, port, bus station, shops and restaurants. There's a rooftop with a gorgeous view, which is absolutely perfect for spending time with other volunteer friends. The hostel manager, Andres, is very welcoming and helpful. I especially appreciated the flexibility of shifts because the volunteers organize everything themselves. The only thing that could make it a bit better would be to add some more equipment to the kitchen. Overall, I had a great experience! Thank you☺️

I had a really good time at the hostel. It's not fancy, and there are sometimes strange guests. But the managers try their best to make the volunteers feel comfortable. It seems like there's always something going on, so it all depends on what you make of it. The flexibility allows you to do so much. And if you have great fellow volunteers like I did, the time flies.

The work is very simple and the schedule is flexible. The location is great for day trips during your days off. It's also close to the day markets and the nightlife. The hostel itself is not very well maintained (great for volunteering), but not so great for guests (be ready to overcompensate with kindness). Andrés and Maud were very welcoming and tried making the experience as positive as possible (thank you to them!!). I suggest handling everything with them and not the owner, as we had some unpleasant exchanges with him. Overall I recommend this experience as it's perfect to explore Sicily

It was my first volunteering experience and I couldn't have hoped for a better one. The hostel is located in the center, making it really convenient to explore and visit. The work was easy and light, we were able to choose the shifts among ourselves, and as long as tasks were completed, we were free to approach them as we preferred. Sofi and Francesco were always available and ready to helps us with any needs. The volunteer team quickly became like family to me. The month I spent in Palermo will remain a unique moment of sharing, learning and fun. I am grateful to have lived this adventure.

Volunteering at the hostel was one of the best experiences of my life. For three months, I worked at the hostel helping with simple tasks, which gave me time to explore Palermo and enjoy everything the city and Sicily have to offer. The location is excellent, with easy access to other cities, restaurants, cafés, bars, parties, and beautiful beaches. Sofi, the manager, was extremely proactive and empathetic, making the stay even more special. I also met amazing volunteers with whom I formed deep bonds, like a true family. I 100% recommend this experience!

It was, overall, an amazing experience. You can get to know a lot of people from all around the world and connect with the other volunteers. Sofi was helpful and friendly; you can ask her questions anytime and can help you solve problems. The shifts are simple and short, so you can have plenty of time for yourself. The location is perfect because it's close to the central station and 15 away from the city's tourist center.
