Brainstorm Homeschool

My project focuses on teaching English to Thai people, with an emphasis on empowering them to confidently engage in conversations with foreigners. The primary goal is to build confidence in using English, enabling Thais to exchange ideas, perspectives, and cultural knowledge with volunteers. This exchange takes place through conversations in English, fostering mutual understanding and cultural appreciation. Additionally, volunteers have the opportunity to stay in Chiang Mai at my home, which is nestled in a garden-like setting. This offers a serene and ideal environment for relaxation and cultural immersion in Thailand. The project not only enhances language skills but also bridges cultural gaps, creating a meaningful and enriching experience for both Thai participants and international volunteers.

"Our home welcomes both native and non-native English speakers to teach the language. If you are confident in your ability to engage, converse, and connect with others, this is the right position for you. You will find joy in traveling while making your journey meaningful to your students."

What we exchange with our volunteers:
1. Teaching techniques. If you are already a teacher we can share our experiences.
2. Exploring the local Chaiangmai areas (hot springs, caves, mountains, markets, waterfalls) during free time.
3. Eating local and traditional Thai food both at the school and around the area.
4. Teaching volunteers how to cook by using different techniques. Some dishes I have taught before to volunteers are: honey toast, green curry, shabu shabu, tom yum soup, padthai, papaya salad etc.
5. Meet local people around Chaingmai. They are always eager to get to know volunteers because they don’t see a lot of foreigners.

we are family just 3 people in our family and I am a teacher who works with Government. We live in the downtown where agriculture part of Thailand. At my home, we focus on exchanging accommodation and Thai food. If you come and have any specific activities you would like to do, please let us know." The work I need volunteers to help with is in the evening. You will have free time to explore and travel all day........

The homestay from which I did the volunteering was truly beautiful, clean and peaceful. The staff and fellow volunteers created an amazing atmosphere to truly be able to live a slow paced and fullfilling experience. The students we taught online were varying in age, experience level and motivation. This made the teaching experience fun, exciting and sometimes a bit challenging (which I liked). I also learned a lot from the students as they are very keen on telling about themselves. I reccomend this place for sure as all facilitaties were perfectly in order.

I spent a week teaching English online at Ban Bon Doi Homestay. It's nestled in a peaceful village (Mao Wang) near Chiang Mai, the food is delicious, and the people (staff and students) are incredibly kind and welcoming.

The hosts and her team, go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The facilities are clean and comfortable, and the teaching schedule is manageable: 4–6 online classes, five days a week.

You’ll be creating your own lessons, spending time outdoors, and connecting deeply with the local community or just chill.

Loved my stay here! 💚
Kind people, delicious food (2x/day), and a gorgeous natural setting. I taught students aged 6 to 60, some became best friends , some hilarious troublemakers.
You’ll be outdoors a lot, making your own lessons (Engoo is great for ideas).
Schedule: 4–6 classes, 5 nights a week.
The village is peaceful, 40 mins from Chiang Mai, with a 7-Eleven and market 13 mins away. Perfect if you love nature, meaningful connections, and a slower pace.
Bring bug spray & a big smile!

Muy volunteering in Brainstorm was short and full of mixed feelings... The amount of lessons is okay and you have full freedom in and out of the classes. Food is good and they offer vegan, but no hot water in the shower.
Then 4000Baht dissapeared from my wallet, and i got to know that two other volunteers had the same issue 2 weeks and 1 month before me, when the whole volunteering team was different. I dont have any proof of who stole the money, but when i told the staff, they couldnt care any less. Their involvement with volunteers is close to 0, it felt so impersonal and distant.

Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry for the unpleasant experience you had during your stay. Since our accommodation is shared, we always remind all volunteers to take care of their personal belongings and keep valuables secure. Unfortunately, in cases where money is lost, we are unable to return the amount or search through the belongings of other volunteers, as we must respect everyone’s privacy.
