Brainstorm Homeschool

My project focuses on teaching English to Thai people, with an emphasis on empowering them to confidently engage in conversations with foreigners. The primary goal is to build confidence in using English, enabling Thais to exchange ideas, perspectives, and cultural knowledge with volunteers. This exchange takes place through conversations in English, fostering mutual understanding and cultural appreciation. Additionally, volunteers have the opportunity to stay in Chiang Mai at my home, which is nestled in a garden-like setting. This offers a serene and ideal environment for relaxation and cultural immersion in Thailand. The project not only enhances language skills but also bridges cultural gaps, creating a meaningful and enriching experience for both Thai participants and international volunteers.

"Our home welcomes both native and non-native English speakers to teach the language. If you are confident in your ability to engage, converse, and connect with others, this is the right position for you. You will find joy in traveling while making your journey meaningful to your students."

What we exchange with our volunteers:
1. Teaching techniques. If you are already a teacher we can share our experiences.
2. Exploring the local Chaiangmai areas (hot springs, caves, mountains, markets, waterfalls) during free time.
3. Eating local and traditional Thai food both at the school and around the area.
4. Teaching volunteers how to cook by using different techniques. Some dishes I have taught before to volunteers are: honey toast, green curry, shabu shabu, tom yum soup, padthai, papaya salad etc.
5. Meet local people around Chaingmai. They are always eager to get to know volunteers because they don’t see a lot of foreigners.

we are family just 3 people in our family and I am a teacher who works with Government. We live in the downtown where agriculture part of Thailand. At my home, we focus on exchanging accommodation and Thai food. If you come and have any specific activities you would like to do, please let us know." The work I need volunteers to help with is in the evening. You will have free time to explore and travel all day........

I stayed at Ban Bon Doi Homestay and volunteered for their online English teaching class. It was a great experience—peaceful environment, kind hosts, and wonderful students who were excited to learn. I’m glad I could support the local community and be part of something meaningful.

BBD Round 3... It's always a pleasure to be here and teach English to students from all over Thailand and of all ages. With some we even built some beautiful friendship. It's just regrettable to hear some young volunteers always complaining about everything, being rude and disrespectful creating closed and a selective group raising a feeling of discomfort. I knew this place with better people and had really fun with them. Depending who you will be volunteering with this place can be really amazing and live a wonderful experience. Paweena will always welcome you with a smile and a big ❤️🎉

My experience at Homestay Chiang Mai was truly enriching. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported. The onboarding was clear, and everything was very well organized—schedules, rules, resources, and teaching materials. The house is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of areas to work and relax. My shared room was clean and quiet, with AC and a fan. The internet was excellent for teaching, and having access to laundry was a big plus.

We received two delicious meals, Classes started around 3–4 PM, leaving mornings free. Overall, the experience was organized, peaceful, and very rewarding.

Oh my gosh, I loved it! The people were kind, the food was delicious, and the site was beautiful. I especially loved the students — I taught ages 6 to 60! Some became my besties, and some were little menaces (in a fun way). You’ll spend most of your time outdoors, so get ready to embrace nature. The village is about 40 minutes from Chiang Mai, so downtime usually means a 7/11 walk or local market trip. You’ll make your own lessons — I recommend using Engoo for ideas. Bring bug spray and your sense of humor! If you want meaningful connections and peaceful vibes, this is the place!
