I had a wonderful time volunteering at the hostel! The accommodation is a room with 2 3-person bunk beds, so you get to meet other volunteers and make friends quite easily! The staff are all great, and I feel like I have a community to go back to now! There are also several miscellaneous cleaning tasks as needed, but usually you're only scheduled for 3-4 days a week. Any time off that's requested is usually taken into account, so there's plenty of time to explore! Location is great too! Grocery budget is slightly limited, but enough for 2 meals a day - more than I expected :)

Volunteering here has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Connecting with the hostel community has given me a deeper appreciation for Dutch culture, and meeting travelers from all over the world has broadened my perspective. The atmosphere at the hostel has been vibrant and welcoming, making it easy to form meaningful connections with the staff and volunteers, It's been a perfect mix of personal growth, cultural exchange, and making lifelong memories.

Haarlem is a charming city, but small β€” you can get to know it well in just two days. Nightlife happens from Thursday to Saturday, with many places closed from Monday to Wednesday. The hostel is pleasant and most of the staff are friendly. However, the team offered no cultural exchange with us. Only in the second month were we given access to bikes, which made it easier to enjoy the city and nearby areas. The food budget was only €4.50 per day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we were told to be "creative" β€” we ate a lot of bread and rice.

The hostel is super nice and cozy, with great common spaces to chill, a huge kitchen and a spacious bedroom for volunteers.During my stay, there were a lot of changes going on(staff, organization and renovations)which caused a bit of confusion at first, especially in terms of communication.Things got a lot better with time, and the hostel sure it'll keep improving ,yet it still seemed that there was too much reliance on volunteer work. The staff is very kind & friendly but it'd be great to have more group activities to help everyone feel more connected.Anyways, Haarlem is stunning, so have fun!!

The hostel is really pretty and a cozy place to stay. Everything was clean and they give give you comfy beds, a good amount of storage, a fridge, couch, and decently sized table. They staff were friendly and it was an easy place to adapt to. However, there were some communication issues that made the job confusing at times. Maybe I just came at a unique time when rules were changing so staff + volunteers were in the process of adjusting to them. Also, I would suggest only coming during the warmer seasons because nothing happens in the winter.

To be completely honest the hostel itself is great, comfy beds, private restrooms and access to a large kitchen that we used to cook group meals. There was a lot of confusion when I got to the hostel as a few staff members had just left and there were some minor issues involving the chain of command. My understanding was that we were going to perform a majority of the housekeeping tasks but It felt like the entire hostel was reliant on volunteers which didn't make it feel like a volunteer experience more of a job in my opinion and a lot more responsibility that impacted my experience.

This was my first experience with worldpackers and i had a good time at the hostel, especially thanks to my fellow volunteers, that i got really close to. The place and the room are nice, but there are definitely things that should be improved. Overall I encountered some communication issues with the staff, some things weren't mentioned prior to my arrival. I also felt like when some people didn't want to finish their tasks, they would just leave it to the volunteers, putting us in an uncomfortable position, and that the grocery budget was too tight, because it wasn't enough for seven people

It was my first experience as a volunteer in a hostel, and I believe the hostel was the right choice for it. The hostel staff was always super friendly, helpful, and flexible with the volunteers! But without a doubt, what made my experience truly special were the amazing people I met there. <3 As for the hostel, I noticed it's going through a lot of restructuring, with plenty of gaps to be filled, and at times that directly impacted our experience as volunteers in not-so-positive ways. But the hostel sure that once everything is reorganized, the experience at the hostel can be even better :)
