The Experience

Located in historic Haarlem, 20 mins from Amsterdam, Hello I’m Local is a cozy hostel with only 20 rooms! Join my team to help with housekeeping & nightwatch, and enjoy free use of bikes, barista coffee, and tea. You'll share a spacious room (private toilet/shower) withup to 6 international volunteers. Hang out in my café or two patios, and get a grocery stipend for group meals. My small team is here to help you call Hello I'm Local your home!

I spent 2 months at the hostel and I couldn't be happier with my choice! The whole team is very helpful and kind and everyone made me feel like a part of a family. The interior of the hostel is very cozy and has a "home" atmosphere. The work hours and tasks were reasonable and easy to do and we always had days off during the week which was perfect to explore other places in the Netherlands. The food budget was sometimes a bit strict and we had to plan our meals but overall it was always enough and was a big plus. I highly recommend this place to meet new people and live a great experience!! ❤️

As my first volunteer experience i couldn't ask for a better place. The whole team is amazing, ready to help you and let you feel at home. The place is really cozy and in a strategic position in Haarlem, well connected to the railway station. The utilities provided to the volunteers are described perfectly in the listing, sometimes the budget is a little strict but it happened only a few times. The work is totally reasonable and easy, with the staff always helping you. I really loved the experience, totally recommended!!! Thank you everyone! :)

It was my first volunteering experience and I could not be happier. The staff, the work, the hostel, the location, and of course the other volunteers made me feel at home. The hostel's location is incredible, right in the center of Haarlem and close to Amsterdam. I also improved my English a lot and had the chance to explore and discover all of the Netherlands! The tasks were very easy to do, and you could always count on the support of the staff and the other volunteers. During my time at the hostel, I built a big family that I will carry with me for life. Thank you for this experience!!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The staff are so lovely, kind, and always ready to help with anything. Sadly, I had to leave earlier than planned due to health issues, but I will always remember the experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I met amazing fellow travelers who I can now call friends. Even though my trip was cut short, this hostel left me with wonderful memories, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone🫶🏻🫶🏻

The best experience doing my first voluntary !! I completely recommend this volunteer, all the staff make you feel that you are at home, the hostel its incredible and its near the center of Haarlem! All the task are available to do it and the staff helps you in everything! During my two month of volunteer and made a family with another volunteers and staff ❤️ Thanks for all the hostel🫶🏽
