For my first volunteer experience, I couldn't have hoped for anything better than the hostel. I met a wonderful team who made me feel right at home (big shout out to Twan, Kaj, Christine and Robyn!). The work is fair and the hours are respected (between 3 and 4 days off per week to enjoy your stay), and you can make specific requests in advance for your schedule. You will be welcomed into a spacious, well-equipped 6-person dormitory in the best possible location: the central canals of Haarlem, 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam! Go for it with your eyes closed!

This was a great first experience volunteering. It's a quieter hostel with most guests being dutch, in families of couples, which makes it much more relaxed environment in the hostel. However, there are still opportunities to socialise with guests, staff and the other volunteers. The work schedule is very fair and flexible. Some day shifts can feel like a lot of work, especially on weekends. However, you have plenty of time off the explore NL. I was initially worried about doing night shifts but they ended up being very chill and easy shifts most of the time. Grocery budget is amazing also.

The hostel was my home for 2 months, and I couldn't have chosen a better place to start my volunteering journey in Europe. Everyone speaks English very well and is patient with beginners. The schedules are respected, the work is easy to learn and not stressful. Everyone is very kind, and we received a grocery budget for the supermarket — it's not a lot, but enough for basic meals. I highly recommend the experience. Thanks a lot to all the staff and volunteers! I made amazing memories and hope to see everyone again soon!

I spent two months at the hostel and absolutely loved the experience! The team is amazing, the city is beautiful, and there are so many incredible parks nearby (perfect for biking). Springtime at the hostel was truly something special 🌸🌷🌼

I honestly loved my experience with the hostel. Robin, Kai, max and Christine are legends. Haarlem is a beautiful town and you are very close to Amsterdam. You do sleep in a 6 bed room dorm, so just bring good ear plugs and a sleeping mask and you will be right. I would definitely recommend this place !!!

I had a wonderful time volunteering at the hostel! The accommodation is a room with 2 3-person bunk beds, so you get to meet other volunteers and make friends quite easily! The staff are all great, and I feel like I have a community to go back to now! There are also several miscellaneous cleaning tasks as needed, but usually you're only scheduled for 3-4 days a week. Any time off that's requested is usually taken into account, so there's plenty of time to explore! Location is great too! Grocery budget is slightly limited, but enough for 2 meals a day - more than I expected :)

Volunteering here has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Connecting with the hostel community has given me a deeper appreciation for Dutch culture, and meeting travelers from all over the world has broadened my perspective. The atmosphere at the hostel has been vibrant and welcoming, making it easy to form meaningful connections with the staff and volunteers, It's been a perfect mix of personal growth, cultural exchange, and making lifelong memories.

Haarlem is a charming city, but small — you can get to know it well in just two days. Nightlife happens from Thursday to Saturday, with many places closed from Monday to Wednesday. The hostel is pleasant and most of the staff are friendly. However, the team offered no cultural exchange with us. Only in the second month were we given access to bikes, which made it easier to enjoy the city and nearby areas. The food budget was only €4.50 per day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we were told to be "creative" — we ate a lot of bread and rice.

The hostel is super nice and cozy, with great common spaces to chill, a huge kitchen and a spacious bedroom for volunteers.During my stay, there were a lot of changes going on(staff, organization and renovations)which caused a bit of confusion at first, especially in terms of communication.Things got a lot better with time, and the hostel sure it'll keep improving ,yet it still seemed that there was too much reliance on volunteer work. The staff is very kind & friendly but it'd be great to have more group activities to help everyone feel more connected.Anyways, Haarlem is stunning, so have fun!!
