The Experience
At the heart of the hills in Bondowoso, Lajer Pote is more than just a quiet retreat — it's a movement toward a more conscious way of living. Here, we dream of a different kind of classroom: One without walls, where the trees are teachers, and the land becomes a living library. We are building an Ecological School — a space where children and communities can learn directly from nature, rooted in local wisdom and sustainable practices.

- Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

My experience at Lajer Pote was truly great. Taufik and the whole community welcomed me warmly and made me feel like one of them throughout my stay. We worked together in the community, where I learned about permaculture as well as local traditions. I even learned how to cook many typical dishes. I was really able to dive deep into the local culture, while also having the chance to explore many interesting places nearby. I would definitely recommend Lajer Pote to any traveler looking for a genuine connection with the local culture.
