The hostel had just opened, so the organization wasn't great and some weeks we ended up working about 8 extra hours. The volunteer room really needs improvement; it was super hot at night (only window connected to a garage), there were no lockers (as previously discussed), and hygiene issues. On the good side, the view was amazing, the manager (Badr) and the staff were nice to me, and both guests and volunteers made it fun. I also appreciate the discounted surf lessons. Things got better during my last week, so I hope future volunteers have a smoother experience.

The start of my time here was not ideal and was only improved towards the end by the effort put in by the manager (Badr) to make my time more enjoyable! Overall this experience was not for me as I had quite a high standard to compare to. This is a new hostel with a lot to improve on, particularly when it comes to communicating and the tone in which the owner talks to the volunteers. The processes and the way in which this hostel is managed needs work, which I hope will come with time. The best parts were the volunteers, the culture and the people you meet! And ofc the delicious food.

The hostel does not match its description: fake photos, wrong location, and 30 work hours instead of 26. Communication with both supervisor and manager is confrontational; even simple questions trigger accusations. For example, asking what time breakfast would be served led to hysterics and claims I “didn't want to work.” Despite fulfilling my duties, supporting teammates, and suggesting improvements, I was abruptly thrown out onto the street with only two hours' notice for “talking too much.” The only positive was meeting amazing fellow volunteers in an otherwise authoritarian environment.

My experience was different from what I expected. The hostel was new and the volunteer program was not well structured. After we organized the work schedule better, we could do the cleaning and bed-making activities, but they added tasks such as serving food for the guests. Communication with the manager was difficult and there was a lack of clarity in the information. The host was welcoming, but some details about the volunteering program were different from reality. The hostel itself was really good. Overall it was a mixed experience, with both positive and negative aspects.
