The Experience

Hello! We’re a British-German couple restoring a 150-year-old stone house in the remote Soča Valley, Slovenia. With help from local builders (and our cocker spaniel!), we’ve made huge progress—roof, electrics, plumbing, plaster removal—and are now in the final phase. We’d love help this summer and look forward to sharing practical skills, nature, and a meaningful experience.

I had an incredible time at the hillside house. Jeremy and Anja are amazing hosts who communicate their expectations well and never ask for too much. They made me feel very welcomed and comfortable in their home with great home made meals and a great vibe as we sat to eat together every meal. It was also a great experience to meet other travelers from all around the world to share our experiences and create a unique relationship that I will remember forever. The nature surrounding the house is also unbelievable. Rivers, waterfalls, gorges, and mountains, it has it all. I highly recommend :)

The best volunteering experience I've had. The place is unreal: an old house in the middle of the forest, incredibly peaceful. The fruit trees and a beautiful river are just a few steps away. The hosts, Jeremy and Anja, are the best; they are a kind, caring couple who made us feel like family. They provided nutritious vegetarian food and shared their cultures with us. I was so happy to have helped a little with the restoration of a house that's over 100 years old; it felt like being an artist!!

The best week of my life. Do I have to say something else.😄 Everything was perfect since the beginning and I met some of the nicest and coolest people ever. The atmosphere was great all day, location of the house is absolutely gorgeous and there is lot to do in your free time. Again big thanks to everyone and especially to Jeremy and Anja who made me feel very welcomed since I first arrived and took me into consideration taking care of me for the entire stay.🙏

Jeremy and Anja are both such amazing hosts and did thier best to make my stay a good one. We had varied tasks, good working hours and I learnt a lot. The area is beautiful with great walks and swim spots. It's a great place to watch the stars and be in touch with nature. It was good to spend time playing board games or chilling by the fire, sharing stories. A good project to be apart of. If you have a bike or a car then the trip would be even better. Hopefully we will cross paths again one day.
