It was a really nice experience volunteering at the host with Roslynne and Rรฉmy. They have been doing an important job putting this hostel back on track. They have also built an amazing team, with great people, Jerome, Leon, Tazz, Johnatan, Lucy, and the rest of them. They not only taught me about painting and fixing, but about local culture and personal experience which I enjoyed I highly recommend this place, it is well located, cozy and full of welcoming people

I volunteered here for 2 weeks and LOVED IT. all the staff here were AMAZING and so fun and i became such good friends with them. Thursdays we had a big lunch get together and everyone got a huge free lunch. The beds were always so clean and fresh and so comfortable. Security wise they have a security company in the corner of the street and if you ever feel unsafe, you can call them up and free of charge they will have someone escort you !! Recommended!! Made a second family here.

Connecting with staff at the hostโ€”learning to cook traditional dishes, practicing Xhosa, and engaging with local and international guestsโ€”was the highlight of my stay! Though each region varies from cultural beliefs to laws, I felt uncomfortable and dismissed with the hosts' behavior in the experience of a male guest being inappropriate and disregarded by such attitudes of hosts in other incidents. I recommend that the hosts receive better training in inclusivity, improve clarity in communication, and set clear expectations for volunteers to ensure a safe, respectful environment.
