The Experience

Hya!! We are trying to restore a ruin and build up a self reliant , sustainable project with 0 budget. People with construction and gardening skills are extremely helpfull. We love bulding with natural materials and scrap metarials and are trying to improve the place and make life more awesome. Depending on the time of the year we start early in summer but we work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We cook together or supply materials

Ties, Shirley, and the kids Josh and Eli were all incredibly welcoming and kind. From meeting to leaving I felt respected, encouraged, and like I belonged. The hours of work were very reasonable, starting as early as possible to avoid the hot hours of the day, breaks when you needed, and a very cool and cozy deck near the creek to relax or have an afternoon nap in. Lunch and dinner were always something to look forward to, veggies from the garden, meat from the local butchers, and good conversations around the table. 10/10 a superb first experience. Thank you 🙏🏻

We had a beautiful time with Ties and Shirley. They are two of the warmest, most welcoming people we've met. Their wonderful kids, Josh and Eli, added so much joy to our days & made our experience even more special. As for the work, we LOVED it! Most of our time was spent on renovations in the kitchen. There was a great balance of autonomy, guidance, room to be creative all while still feeling supported on what we needed to do. This kept us motivated & excited every day. Between work days, we got to spend fun time with them together! We're so grateful for our experience on the host!
