The Experience

We are a cafe/bar & hostel located in the beautiful tropical island of Perhentian Islands, Malaysia. We are known for being the place where travelers meet, where we treat our guests like family. I volunteered at the host for 2 weeks and overall, it was a positive experience. The location is stunning—right in front of the sea, with amazing views and a very relaxed vibe, perfect for connecting with nature. My tasks included cleaning, helping in the kitchen, working at the bar, and general support wherever needed. The working hours were fair, but sometimes the organization lacked clarity, which could lead to a bit of confusion. Still, it was a good opportunity to adapt and learn to work in a more flexible environment

I had an amazing time volunteering—great location near dive sites and an incredible group of supportive volunteers made the experience truly memorable. However, communication from the owners was often unclear and, at times, discouraging when we took initiative. Clearer and more respectful communication would have really improved things. Overall, it was a meaningful experience in a beautiful place, and with better guidance, it could be exceptional.

Hi Jasmine thank you for your review.

We are sorry that we dont meet your expectations during your stay here. We appreciate your help.

However, we strongly discourage volunteers to change the way we ran and cook in the kitchen, especially if it involves changing the way the food has been served before.

Thank you
