There were many student groups to teach, and the schedule was flexible as per agreement. The accommodation was really nice with AC, hanging racks, and other facilities such as a dining room, shared kitchen, and office. Additionally, the most memorable aspect of my stay was the kindness and helpfulness of the host - Savon's family. They were incredibly hospitable and always tried to connect all volunteers together with their hi 5 energy! I would recommend this opportunity to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Thai local culture while contributing to social work like teaching!

Grateful. I shall start it with gratitude. My experience in the school Thailand (within the premises of Wat Phrai Phatthana) was totally amazing. The village kids, villagers, monks, nuns and everyone in the village are so welcoming, friendly and have a generous big heart. They are always appreciative to us (volunteer teachers). The village kids and monks attending the classes range from age 5 to 17 years old. We start from teaching and recapping on the basic english (ABC) and useful conversional dialogue. Mama Savon and Sister Channa are always paying attentive to our needs. Heartfelt wishes to all.

Hi Pei Pei!
Thank you for leaving such a positive and helpful review! A few responses below:
1. This is a great suggestion and one we will definitely work and improve upon!
2. Hiring a COS/Cook is something we're already planning! Thank you
3. Some of the new volunteers just started making a curriculum last week but it still needs to be ironed out a bit. Definitely a work in progress.

It was so wonderful to have you here at ECC! We miss you already!

Love,
ECC team.

It was very fun to be there and to see all the different life styles that got together. I loved to teach the monks and schoolkids. Nice experience, even when things were a little unstructured, we got along very well.

Although my time the school was short, the hosts really made us feel welcome and treat us like their own family. It's such a great opportunity to be able to teach English to the children, teens and monks who are all very friendly.

It was a great experience, teaching local kids and young monks English was really great and I really enjoyed my time there. Other volunteers were great and sociable. Nice rural area, with Muay Thai gym nearby and an opportunity to join monks in their daily meditation. However, sometimes there was lack of communication about the classes and the schedule could be slightly confusing and changed very last minute.

The positive side: the kids are amazing, truly inspiring and they make you very proud of them. Negative sides: there is absolutely no decent management, nothing is efficiently planned or organised, we had to proactively manage ourselves and general resources are insufficient. There is no clear advertising of the possible activities to do: there is a Muay thai Gym, but there is no class to join in. The amount of money asked to cover for food, accommodation etc. is suspiciously high giving the lack of resources and supervision, the poor quality of the experience and the general mismanagement.

Teaching the school was so joyful. Living on a Thai Buddhist monastery leaves an impact. Talking with the elder monk, being surrounded by animals, peaceful vibes and all the other monks was such an experience. I meditated with them and did Thai boxing training. There were other moments where we were honored in the school getting the school going. The students were rather disciplined for the schools we come by. They wanted to learn. You also can teach some child monks learning their discipline. The food is great, I loved immersing with the locals and was nicknamed by locals.

My stay at ECCT was one of the best experiences in my life ! Mainly, because of the people you share with, such as Savon and Channa, they as hosts, will do everything to make you feel comfortable and with the necessary facilities for your stay. I have to mention the kind and special treatment that the mayor monk of the monastery gave us. I was very happy to have shared this experience with more wonderful volunteers , from whom I learned a lot. But definitely the most special people are the local children, the monks and the older students. I really love this project. GRACIAS!

The volunteer experience at Wat Phrai Phatthana is very enriching for me. An experience where I got more than what I expected. I feel I have created a big difference in teaching English to the monks and the primary school Students. The monks are very enthusiastic to learn and look up high on us to understand English . We as a teachers are flexible to teach the way we want and the topics we can. All that matters is the monks and students be able to communicate in English. the school folks Savon is doing a great job in pulling volunteers together and providing the school to all. Thanks Savon and Channa

I did not get to live the full experience, unfortunately, as when I arrived at the school I was told the kids were on holiday, and nobody had mentioned it during the application. So everything felt quite disorganised and a lot of responsibilities were put onto the volunteers, but I could leave after a few days. However, this is such a nice project and I am sure that these were all a combination of circumstances as everything is now taken care of.

Hi Elisa! we are sorry that you came in the middle of the holidays, and we have had to travel back and forth to Thailand, to get the school at the temple running. But everything is organized and back to normal again now, and you are always welcome at the ECC school, if you ever come back to Cambodia or Thailand. Wish you the best of luck and safe travels.
