I don't even know where to start to express my gratitude and love for this experience, pueblo, and hostel! This was my first Worldpackers and the other volunteers as well as Gonzo helped me feel more than welcome, safe, and were extremely patient with me as my Spanish is extremely beginner level! Everything was as described in the description. I think some of the other reviews are kind of off putting - if you signed up to work then you should expect to work and not trek every single day? I had plenty of time to trek on days off, before or after my shift, and Gonzo is an amazing guide! 10/10!

The hostel was a beautiful and incredible experience. It was my first in a hostel and Gonzalo was such an incredible and accommodating host that helped us with everything we needed. The group of volunteers is truly like a family and it was a home away from home in El the hostel. The tasks are simple, shifts and hours are respected, and you will truly fall in love this town. I couldn't have asked for a better host, group, and experience. 100% 10/10 recommend:) Gracias Gonza! Voy a extrañarte <3

+: Hostel is clean and in a great location. I found amazing friends. Gonzalo was eager to help us and took us hiking, talked with us often, etc. -: There were no staff members, so the volunteers do everything to run the hostel. With a 10am-4pm shift, 5 days a week, it was difficult to fully enjoy the nature and find time to hike. The labor was intense. We tried organizing a more flexible rotation w/ Gonzalo, but it stayed the same. 1 day, the 5 of us as volunteers all decided to leave early as the environment was stressful. Some wrote good reviews for fear of a bad look on their profiles.

El Chatén is a beautiful hiking town to be and the hostel is a cozy and lovely place to stay at. The people welcomed me like a family and I was able to learn lots of Spanish (which should be at least intermediate on arrival). The tasks are mainly housekeeping but you still have time to do hikes the rest of your day or on days off which are incredible!
