The experience

Join our non-profit community in a historic building surrounded by nature. We welcome volunteers with technical, maintenance or hospitality skills to help us maintain and run a creative community space. Enjoy shared meals, music, cultural exchange, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can both contribute and feel at home.

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Program Details

The Casino of Gompel is a former hotel, restaurant, café and cultural centre that stood abandoned for over 25 years. Today, we are carefully bringing this historic place back to life. The ground floor is nearly restored, and step by step we are reviving the building’s original spirit — with a strong focus on social impact and community care.
As a non-profit initiative, we use this space to address issues such as loneliness, poverty and access to healthy food. We organise free cultural and social activities so that everyone can participate, regardless of their financial situation. Our programme includes music concerts, stand-up comedy, Christmas celebrations, yoga, theatre, and many more.
More than a venue, the Casino of Gompel is becoming a living community space where people meet, support one another, share creativity and rebuild a sense of belonging. Volunteers play an essential role in this process — helping us restore the building while also helping to shape a place where care, culture and connection go hand in hand.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers work 5hrs/day, 5 days/week, and we spend 1hr a day keeping the place tidy.

Depending on our needs, we are looking for volunteers with one of these profiles:
* Technical volunteers (repairs, small renovations, electricity, etc.)
* All-round handypeople / maintenance helpers
* Hospitality volunteers (kitchen support, cooking, serving, bar, community kitchen)
* General helpers who enjoy flexibility and teamwork

We always try to match your skills with the tasks we currently need. Experience is welcome, but motivation and a cooperative spirit matter even more.

Rules

The building is old and big, so we have experienced the importance of tidiness and cleanliness. We really expect volunteers to keep the place clean and tidy and have great work ethics.
