The Experience
Make a small educational project to share your skills with the children from our village. We need volunteers to teach them English, Spanish, French, computer skills,arts, play sports. Peixinhos is a cultural and educational project that believes children can learn anywhere, especially in contact with nature.

Helen has built a wonderful community for the local community. Unfortunately I wasn't able to experience the community for long as there was an accident which happened which meant I had to leave. But anyone looking to help the children should know they will be super excited to meet you. The school is very flexible and will welcome any new skills you can teach to the children. They love arts and crafts! Please note that accommodation is rustic so you will enjoy being in nature. To get there you take a minibus and then a boat (both low cost) which helen was very helpful with sending links for.

I had an amazing experience at the school! Helena made every effort to make me feel welcome both at the school and in Atins. The project is amazing as the kids get lots of opportunities which I was fortunate to help out in, teaching English, computer skills and play. Despite knowing only basic Portuguese Helena helped me practice but also spoke English when needed. An amazing experience which I would highly recommend!

It has been my first time volunteering with Worldpackers and it has been a fantastic experience! the school is a well-established project in the community and Helena is a great host, she really makes you feel welcome. Working with the children in Atins has been the best way to get to know the local culture. I have really enjoyed the activities with them and have learnt a lot too. I definitely recommend it!

Minha primeira vivência como voluntária pela Worldpackers foi simplesmente inesquecível. Tive a honra de participar do projeto a escola, em Atins, Maranhão, e posso afirmar que foi uma das experiências mais enriquecedoras da minha vida. Desde o primeiro momento, fui recebida com muito carinho e atenção pela Helena, que me acolheu em sua casa e me orientou com empatia e dedicação.As crianças são encantadoras, cheias de energia e afeto.A comunidade de Atins também me acolheu de braços abertos, tornando minha estadia ainda mais especial. Recomendo muito.

A escola é um projeto lindo! Um espaço livre, onde todas as crianças são bem-vindas para brincar e desenvolver atividades em conjunto. Acredito que ainda haja muito espaço para o projeto crescer, pois é evidente que as pessoas envolvidas têm muito amor pelo que fazem e acima de tudo, pelas crianças. Não aconselho ir para Atins se você tiver problemas com pernilongos, pererecas ou lagartixas. E claro, se não lida bem com o calor e muita a escola. Tanto o projeto, os a escola do projeto, como Atins estarão sempre no meu coração ❤️
