Hello volunteers, I really enjoy my time there. Sultan is a wonderful place, surrounded by nature, animals, and a relax vibe that makes you enjoy more. Sometimes gets busy but the work is fair and flexible. I learned how to make some Turkish meals and the coffee as well 😉 the kitchen team really care about their work, so, is inspiring how they cook and how they teach to prepared food. The place is different, a mix of cultures and Semih is an incredibly and interesting person I am so happy to meet and collaborate with. If you want to enjoy a different experience try this one 🥳

The hostel, Casa Jasmine, is nice, reasonably clean, depending on who shares the kitchen. 2BA. Mostly, I had a room to myself. Loved working in the kitchen @ the Turkish restaurant, a 15min walk away. Mostly, I washed dishes, but was taught to make sauces/bread, Turkish coffee/tea, hummus/tahini/yogurt. The cooks--Tomas, Lam & Marti--are wonderful! I'd love to work with them again. Semih lives at the hostel, laid back, busy. I seldom saw him. Not the best communicator. My shift changed a lot the 1st 2wks, last minute. There were little things that were frustrating because of lack information.

I really enjoyed my time at Sultan. By the end of the month, it felt like we had all become a little family. I did end up feeling burnt out during this experience, but not because of the work, but because of the weather. I would recommend this experience in a warmer season because the work was really fun and the people were great as well but the cold weather made it so i didn't go outside much other than to get to work. overall, San Cristobal was exactly what I needed and I would definitely recommend Sultan!
