The Experience

Grassroots NGO working to end homelessness and uplift marginalized communities in Kuala Lumpur. Since 2012, we’ve created sustainable, community-driven programs and were recently awarded for our innovation in social impact. Now, we’ve embarked on an exciting new journey — transforming 1.5 acres of land into a farm for the communities we serve. If you’re looking for purposeful volunteering, , this is your chance.

The organization is a vibrant community focused on gardening, personal growth, and social interaction. The environment fosters friendliness and collaboration among volunteers, enhancing their sense of belonging and accountability. Led by Shyam, the atmosphere is welcoming and stress-free, making volunteer work enjoyable. Gardening activities allow volunteers to gain hands-on skills while deepening their appreciation for nature. the organization invites individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect through shared efforts in creating a beautiful outdoor space. I'll be back to YH soon.

Yusuf is the definition of cool, calm, and collected. He’s always ready to help, no matter the task. At the farm, he jumped right in — from fencing to supervising — and showed natural leadership and steady guidance throughout. He’s also a wonderful storyteller who brings ease and humour to the team. He made sure we had great stories to share at the dinner table and never ran out of amazing stories.
And of course, his pickles! We’re still savouring them till today. An asset to any organisation

YellowHouse the organization felt like home from the moment I arrived. 💛 Sham's warmth, kindness, and genuine care made my stay unforgettable. More than a host, she's the heart of this place, turning strangers into family and moments into memories. Forever grateful. YH is not just walls and rooms, it's laughter shared at the table, stories exchanged under one roof, and memories that will forever stay with me. It's where travelers become friends, and friends become family. What an amazing first time of volunteering! 🥺🥺🥺

TQ so much, G. Your words truly touched our hearts. We’re grateful you felt at home here — that’s exactly what Yellow House is meant to be: a place where people arrive as strangers, grow together through shared work and stories n leave as family. It was a joy having you with us, and we’re so proud that your first volunteering experience was meaningful. You brought your own light and energy into the space, and it stays with us long after you’ve left. Our door will always be open for you.

Shyam is a very knowledgeable and generous person, a great cook as well. With her guidance, the other volunteers and I were able to get a great deal of work done on the farm in the time I was there. I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to such an impactful cause.

Volunteering at the organization was a truly meaningful and eye opening experience Being part of an organization that is deeply committed to helping communities and ending homelessness gave me a real sense of purpose I was inspired by their grassroots approach, the warmth of the team, and the impact of their sustainable, community driven programs. I especially appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the farm project transforming land into a space that serves the community was both rewarding and educational. I'm grateful for the memories the people I met and everything I learned along
