This experience could be improved with a private rooming arrangement. Rooming with paying guests creates too much opportunity for you to work outside your scheduled hours. While the hostel manager seemed to care about scheduling shifts, being onsite basically makes you an OnCall employee, meaning you are there to satisfy guests needs whenever they have them. An organized check in and check out system is also something to be improved upon, having a financial cash control system and making sure change is available for guests. Get a secure storage system for guest passports.

The location is great, but the hostel has basic infrastructure and organization issues. Upon arrival, I addressed improvements, and while some were resolved, others remain: the kitchen cooktop has only one working burner for the entire hostel, making cooking slow; there is just one bathroom with a shower, causing constant waits; volunteers didn't have access to change money for check-ins, which is a must if card payments are not accepted. Also, shifts were often disregarded, with requests outside agreed hours. I appreciate the opportunity but tbh, the experience could have been better overall.
