We had such a great time with Phonphet and his family. If you want to take a break during your trip, it's an incredible place to do so. There wasn't a lot of work to do, and he also organizes excursions to the other islands, totally recommended! :)

Fantastic experience! Really felt connected to the nature of the place and included with the family. I'm so grateful for this experience and really miss Petuna. Meals are a bit repetitive but good and beds are simple. I really enjoyed contributing to the homestay, weeding in the garden, playing with the kids, and building the ramp. Hard work pays off! Lots of downtime too. We even got a trip to the other islands

We had a great time living with Phonphet and his family working on the island. He has a true passion for his project and it is inspiring to help his dream become a reality. There was a lot of rain meaning work hours were reduced, so there was a lot of down time, I'd recommend bringing a book/ puzzle book! The meals made by his wife were delicious and his daughters were a delight to play with. Facilities are basic but definitely manageable, just bring your own toilet roll:) we left here feeling like we had truly experienced authentic Laos lifestyle and could not recommend a better family:)

Our time on the island with phonephet and his family were amazing. During our stay bungalows were being built to increase tourism to the land so our main role was to help contribute to them being built. Alongside this, we played with phonephets two daughters the guest house and Emma who were the most friendly and playful girls. Phonephet made sure we had plenty of down time, we would roughly work for 3 hours a day and then had the rest of the day to ourselves. During our stay it was rainy season which affected how much we could work, however, Phonephet always made sure we were happy and not to tired.

This experience was wonderful! Phonphet, his family, and the locals are amazing. Very welcoming and friendly. Working hours are exactly how it's described. Three meals a day were nice and they are very accommodating to dietary restrictions. If you are looking to be a part of local Laos living this is for you. There is a lot of down time so bring a book and things to do. Do note to bring enough kip for the entire stay. There are no atms on or near the island.
