I had a great experience! From my first day I felt welcomed by reception and other volunteers. It is a social hostel, so there is always something happening everyday from board games to drinking games and even a family dinner. It was fun meeting people from around the world, and working along side people not from my country. As for the volunteer work, 3 shifts a week is pretty nice. The work is not too challenging and you get a checklist to follow. However, the hostel is all stairs so just keep that in mind, but I'd do it all again!

Volunteering at E7 was a great experience overall. An amazing and inclusive team, a balanced lifestyle at the hostel and good opportunities to be involved in. Everyone was really taken care of and the work/life balance is easy to manage. I would recommend this to anyone willing to put in work to be apart of something great while travelling!

The team was beautiful, everyone was so kind and caring. The hostel offers lot of opportunity to socialize and meet with new people. I felt included and safe at all times and I loved everyone I worked with.

It's a very party-heavy hostel, which wasn't the vibe I was looking for at that moment. The manager is organized but not very welcoming, and I didn't feel much support or space to connect. I worked two overnight shifts in a row (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.), which really affected my sleep and energy. I was asked to leave after one week, even though I tried my best, and that messed up my plans as I was counting on staying longer. If you're into nonstop party energy, it might work for you. But if you're looking for a balanced or creative environment, I wouldn't recommend it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Our hostel isn’t a party hostel, but it is social and community-driven, which wasn’t the right fit for you. During the trial week we look for people who engage with the team and environment, and unfortunately this wasn’t the case here. Night shifts are part of the rotation and always explained upfront. We still wish you all the best on your travels

I cannot stress this enough: READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, they are the accurate ones. The host, Carolin, is a manipulative white suprematist that hides behind a fake language of inclusivity/tolerance, while literally kicking me and other two volounteers out for showing Palestinian symbols. She will claim the hostel is 'multicultural', sure, if by that you mean Australia, USA and UK. She uses WP just to exploit free labour while she works from Bali, micromanaging everyone from cameras.huge red flag: if you call her out, she accuses you of always doing drugs, to make you look unreliable.CAREFUL!!!

We don’t allow political statements in the house, as EastSeven is a safe space for everyone. She couldn’t align with this and her behaviour after our conversation left us no choice but to remove her. It’s sad to see her now spreading hate online, but we stay committed to respect and safety for all.

My time at East Seven was some of the best times of my life until the manager Caroline came back. Immediately the workplace became a tense environment walking on eggshells around a manager that has immense mood swings, takes out petty vendettas against the staff and the volunteers, and manipulates the people under her command to effectively be free labour while ruling with an iron fist. I have never felt as uncomfortable or on edge around a figure of authority especially in a workplace, where your home life, social life, and work life are all intertwined. Be careful with this hostel.

this place stands for respect, support, and making sure everyone feels safe. i care about that and always protect it. you didn’t share those values and focused more on drugs than helping, which hurt the team vibe. most people have a great time here because they connect with the community and what we’re about. if that’s not your vibe, that’s fine — but blaming me for doing my job and protecting others isn’t fair. feeling “scared of the manager” is something for you to reflect on,not to throw around

Absolutely loved my time at the hostel. The whole team was super kind and made me feel right at home! Caro was a great manager, very generous and always willing to help me with anything! The work is straight forward and it was great being able to run the social events for the guests! The hostel is nice & cozy, with great facilities - able to cook, do laundry etc. Got to live with some amazing other people volunteering, would 100% recommend!
